@bassn blvd- basicly its fried deer meat in the battter and mix as one would do for fried chricken. Thanks for a good laugh

@caylub-to my knowledge most southerners call it fried apples but its really apples that are suateed in butter, sugar, brown sugar, and cinnomon for about 20 mins or until the apples are soft. Its freakin yummy!

Lol, I know what it is. I was joking with ya. I believe you meant Country Fried as apposed to Chicken Fried, lol.

I love breakfast any time of the day or night. After reading this thread I had a bowl of cereal (at 9:30 PM). I would prefer some grits with salt, pepper, and a little good olive oil but didn't have the gumption to make them. Actually I would prefer the meal described by Teal in the original post, but I am trying to keep my girlish figure. :eyebrows:

SirSnook I have never had this meal, but I am sure it would suit me me just fine. Come on over to the house and I'll make some biscuits and sausage gravy to go with some bacon, eggs and grits. You bring along some kippers and we'll mix cultures and then go fishing. We might want to wait till spring or meet at your place-it's a bit cool here.

 
 
 

Breakfast indeed!! I'm an omelet man. Love sausage biscuits and gravy, Chip beef gravy. Grits are good but was raised on sugar. Cereal about every night in middle of the night. Chex, Popeyes, corn flakes, honey bunch of oats, and so on. Wow we just had a topic about scrapple and and just 1 guy mentions it?

 

Now I want some Apple cobbler. Mimi's Cafe had some type of apple desert that was good and Bob Evans has that cinnamon apple? thing that is good. Can never go wrong with a good apple.

 

Fried egg on a hamburger is good too. Hard to find a restaurant with that. I only knew of one and where I got the ideal.

We do breakfast for dinner about 3 or 4 times a month during the winter months. Honestly, I could eat it any time of day, I love breakfast. I taught my 12 y/o daughter how to make french toast and she makse them better than I do, but when it comes to breakfast for dinner my kids usually ask me to make "dad's famous waffles"...LOL..I'll make a base batter b/c my son likes chocolate chip waffles and my daughter will add her french toast ingredients. I'll split the batter and let them put in their ingredients. I'll tell ya, the french toast waffles are the BOMB!

French toast waffles...hmmm.. gonna have to try it. We love breakfast food here. We try to cook eggs or omlets, grits and some frest fruit on the mornings i dont have to leave the house at 4:00am. Its easy and quick and quick to clean up.

At my house breakfast can be found on the table anytime of day. We do the whole brinner thing at least once a week, sometimes twice.

What's a stuffed omelet?  It's the first time I've heard that.  Most omelets I've had are stuffed with veggies, meat, and cheese in endless varieties.  I've had a few with the ingredients blended into the eggs.

I am guilty of having Brinner from time to time too. I also have high triglycerides and blood pressure. It runs in my family.

 

Back to the subject post, since grits were mentioned and I'm a northerner............I once had home made cheese grits when i was in Arkansas and it was so d**n good. Since then I have tried grits a few times up around here and it's pretty awful. So it is definitely one of those dishes I think that needs to be mastered. I have never attempted to make them....yet.

However when I reached the wrong conclusion about you being in the medical field, I used a line from a series of Holiday Inn Express where individuals state things that would indicate they are a doctor, scientist or whatever.  When someone asks them if they are a doctor, scientist or someone in a field that requires education, the person responds by saying "No, I'm not a doctor (or whatever), but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, supposedly evidence that they are intelligent.

My guess is that you probably went to the wrong eatery, the italian restaraunts serve it, but they call it polenta and charge 10X more...LOL...who said they were dumb!

Can't believe all these breakfast posts and no scrapple? As a kid me mother would cook scrapple and scrambled eggs with onions diced in them for dinner. Man I wish I could have that meal right now, sub the milk for a beer n that would be a little bit of heaven lol

Actually, those are two different things. One is covered in a brown gravy-like substance (country fried), and the other is generally served with a white pepper gravy (chicken fried).
