Favorite Trailer For Spinnerbaits

Recommended Posts

Ok guys, I really like fishing spinnerbaits at a paticular body of water I fish and have done really well in the past. However, I have never used a trailer on any of my spinners. I was watching a Hank Parker video the other day and he said he ALWAYS uses a trailer. So my questions is, what are some of your favorite trailers to use on your spinners, thanks for any and all comments, Matt

It may sound silly but I like a Zoom fat boy single tail grub with the tale dipped in either chartreuse or red.

Its all personal prefence.  I don't use any trailers or trailer hooks for that matter with my spinnerbaits.

I assume you mean the Fat Albert Grub. If so then x2 on the suggestion. I only use trailers when nothing else works otherwise I go without it.

Hey Roadwarrior, can you only get those online or does a retailer carry them. I have a Dicks, and a Cabelas close to me....

If I use anything, it's a plain white Mister Twister grub.

My friend puts half a paddletail worm on the back of his sometimes and it seems to work for him.

In the spring, I like a curly tail grub for the water resistance as I can crank it slower and still keep it up in the water column.  If I use one in the summer, it's a twin/ straight tail. These are thin bodied and offer very little addition of resistance which reduces the lift (compared to a bulky trailer) and that allows me to keep the bait down.  I normally don't use one in the summer unless I'm going for a bigger profile and then, I'll normally downsize the blade on my bait to compensate for the additional bulk/lift.

Powerbait 7" twist tail worm. I cut it down to the desired size, put the tail section of the worm on the main hook, then place the trailer hook on. By far my favorite, but I vary depending on the spinnerbaits characteristics

Rage Tail grubs work well. I use them on my Boogee baits as well.

I bought some recently at Cabela's. Most online retailers carry a similar pattern. They may all come from the

same manufacturer.

I usually don't use a trailer on a spinnerbait, but when I do I use a Zoom super chunk that matches the color of the skirt.

I don't have much luck with spinnerbaits but have heard many people
claim that split tail worms and pork trailers work well for them.

No trailers for me 99% of the time, and the very few times that I us one it is a normal curly tail gurb, 3" for a 1/4oz and 3/8oz bait and a 4" for a 1/2oz and larger.

And don't forget the trailer hook, too!
