Need a new 7 foot medium heavy, cant decide between veritas or a mojo bass. Any other suggestions are appreciated too!

Since I just bought a veritas, I would say the veritas

another vote for the Veritas.   I have 3 now and love them.

At the present moment it would have to be my Powell Max 703C. Although the Loomis IMX rods are great as well.

Thanks, Would love a G.L rod wish they made one with a lower price point for people like me who have a hard time dropping $200+ for a rod.

lol since I would like a St.Croix Mojo Bass, I would say that. Never used a Veritas, however I have a 6'9 MH Vendetta. It's great.

I have a 6'9" MH Veritas and love it. My most versatile rod.

 

Never used the Mojo, but I have 5 Veritas rods now so I must like them (quite a step up from my old BPS Bionic Blades).

 

The best part is the split grip. Now that I'm used to it and understand how it works as a fulcrum my casting has greatly improved.

 

So, whatever you get, make sure it has a split grip.

I have a Veritas 7' - Very good rod one of my favorites.  However, I'd suggest a Compre over the Veritas, I have a H/F version of the latest Compre and I like it better (feel and has better sensitivity for me).  I can't comment on the Mojo Bass - if you can spend a bit more I'd get an AVID if you want a St. Croix.

I just order a Revo S and I'm pairing it up with a Veritas.

I really llke my MH Veritas. Great feel and sensitivity for the price.

The Mojo is going to be a good rod, but you really need to handle them. The Veritas is going to be stiffer action for action with any St. Croix rod. I have felt the Mojo's but never fished them, I have fished all of Abu's rods except the VIllian and the new Volatile line, and they all run pretty stiff. Personally you can't go wrong with either, but I would trust the Veritas only because it is what I know.

7' MH/F St Croix.........I have two, an Avid and LTB, one that I have and not yet used, a Rage, and fished a few others like the Triumph, Mojo, and Premier.

I have a 6'6'' MH Fenwick Eagle GT that I bought on clearance at sportsmans warehouse for I think $35.  I use it to fish small ponds and lakes from shore.  It is by far the best fishing sub $100 rod I have ever used, I have a Veritas, Vengence, F&S Tech Spec, and a Carrot Stix Wild and would choose the Eagle GT over each of them.

Reding this brings up the question what is a medium heavy bass rod?

There isn't a standard to measure rod ratings and every rod maker uses the ratings differently, even between models of the same manufacturers .

Here are the basics;

2 power = medium-light

3 power = medium

4 power = medium-heavy

5 power = heavy

6 power = extra heavy

7 power = XX heavy

How rods bend are rated ; slow or moderate for half parabolic bend or 1/2 the rods bends, fast for 1/3 of the upper rod bend, very fast for 1/4 of the upper rod bends before the lower half starts to bend.

All this is very subjective and dependent on the rod materials and rod guide placement.

Custom rod makers offer rods in 1/2 power increments to finely tune the rod to the user's specifications.

Im about to get a Veritas. I have a Bass Pro Extreme from about 8 years ago thats been great for me.

Carbonlite 7'MH or sub $100, fenwick HMG.

I hear lots of good things about dobyns rods (especially when you look up jig fishing) - anyone care to agree or disagree

 

the veritas look top notch - Im going to have to see for myself
