New York Fishing Report

Featured Replies

Great day of fishing on VanCleef Lake from last Saturday. VanCleef lake is not actually a "lake" but part of the Seneca-Cayuga canal system right near the locks in Seneca Falls (Central New York). The Seneca Cayuga Canal connects the two finger lakes, Seneca Lake and Cayuga lake, and offers great fishing throughout. VanCleef lake is interesting in that it has a bowel type structure with depths dropping to 30-50 feet just 10 feet from shore. Spring is a great time to fish this water in that all of the spawning bass are predictably right up against the bank.

I'm lucky in that this essentially gets little to no pressure at all year round with the exception of the occasional bank fisherman.

The video was well put together and it looks like you had a great day on the water.  But what is with that noise?  :eyebrows:

thanks and I figured the music would get some mixed reviews haha. I plan on getting a digital audio recorder (the camera I use is in a waterproof housing so audio is poor) so that I can create some videos with just the natural sounds.

Cool spot you got there. I admit I like the music, lol. I used to go clubbing a lot a couple years ago and it just reminded me of it.

Cool Video!

Love the video.  You really give us the highlights (the hook sets are great, and make my palms itchy).  That last LM looks like a pretty nice one.

Great video!  Makes me want to finally get a kayak.  Ive been doing good bank fishing lately but a small boat opens up so many doors.

thanks for the comments guys! going to try to get around to some of the finger lakes like Oneida, Skaneateles, Cayuga, etc to film and provide a fishing report. I'll make sure future videos have more of a "neutral" type music haha...or maybe no music at all and just keep the natural audio

I can tell you the #1 thing I hate in videos is when people put in music, all you need is natural sounds and your voice, nothing more.  I want to hear the fish slam that topwater, or you slam that fish with your jig, brings me in closer to your moment which is what your trying to capture I would imagine.

I've hit those areas in a kayak - there are some great opportunities for nice fish there.  Nice work!
