Favorite Lipless Crankbait

Featured Replies

What's your favorite lipless Crankbait and company? This is one of my go to lures so name them guys.

Stike King Red Eye Shad, Bill Lewis, and Cotton Cordell.

Gotta be the Rat-L-Trap. I've used a few other, Super spots, Red Eye Shad, etc but the Rat-L-Trap is my favorite. They are just what I comfortable with throwing and work well.

xcaliber one knocker/red eye shad

Red eyed shad and Spro aruku shad gat the most game time on my boat.

They are expensive but my favorite are Live Target Bluegill & Shad. I catch more on these than I do RES's. Rat-l-trap would be my 2nd but I hardly ever use them because The LT's perform so well for me.

Red Eye Shad when I'm in the boat or on the bank in "safe" water.  H2O Express when fishing from the bank in "dangerous" water (high probability of snags and bait loss). My stash of H2O's cost me about $2.25 ea. shipped and if I'm gonna lose a bait, I'd rather loose a cheap one...

BTW - my PB in my avatar was caught on an H20...

Rat-La-Trap or as Goose52 said won't get more bang for your buck than H2O.

- TBG -

Red Eye Shad. Flat out catches fish. Chartreuse baitfish, and Chili Craw always put one on my line.

RES catch me fish, the good ones I get that is. Of 5 that I bough 3 of them wont run straight.

Overal really like the Rap Rippin Raps run true and hold their paint and catch fish.

X2

Im partial to the Bill Lewis lures, and red eye shads. In not as confident with the RES as with the Rattles, but Iv caught pretty good fish on both.

Been loving the Red Eye Shad recently but it seems I'm cursed.  Whenever I catch one on it, I end up snagged and broke off shortly after.  The way I'm losing these things, I should probably start fishing the $2 Cordell Super Spots more.  I've fished them and the Rat-L-Trap and have done ok on both but I have more confidence in the RES.

Rat L Trap in various sizes and colors.

I like the XCalibur XR50 or 75 foxy shad or Rapala Rippin Rap Lipless.

In open water any will do.

VanDam's Red Eye Shad and Rat-L-Traps lead the way.

In grass I like the Cotton Cordell or MegaBass due to the lure's front tip.

These brands, and others, are shaped to help the bait go through the grass easier than the pointed tip of the Rat-L-Trap.

Rat-l-traps, and super spots.  Those are about the only ones that I ever use.

I don't use anything but Redeye shads anymore.

Strike King Redeye...

Bill Lewis rat-l-trap. if I fish deeper water I use the red eye shad. I've found the red eye runs deeper

Overall the rattling vibe is just a fish catching machine. At 5/8 and a slightly more aerodynamic design than most rattle baits, it seems to cast better.

Red eye shad is great, especially when yo-yo'd as it shimmies on the drop.

Spots run shallower than others and are a good value.

The rapala rippin rap is growing on me.

Aruku Shad although Ill be trying XR50s soon.

Xcaliber XR50 and XRK50, nothing else even comes close for me.

Here is my best of the best -

5/8 oz. - Yo Zuri Rattlin Vibe. Great for deeper open water. Very tight vibration and casts like a beast

1/2 oz. - Rapala Rattlin Rap. Cheap and a total fish catcher. I have caught more fish on this than any other. Can't put my finger on it, but it flat works.

3/8 oz. - Spro Aruku Shad JR. - Perfect for ripping over weeds, great hardware and a great price.

All have several color options
