One of my favorite Jigs is the Strike king bleeding bait premier jig in the black brown amber color. for some reason that really produces in this hot summer months for me. has almost a perch look to it.

 

last week I ripped a 7.02 pounder from bridge pillings in about 8 Ft of water. well it seemed to bend the hook (which seemed pretty stout) where it wanted to snag every log in the lake. i bent it back with some pliers and it worked fine for the rest of the day

 

well today  on a brand new jig i pulled a hard hitting 4.14 pounder from some willows and as soon as I lipped him into the boat the jig fell right out because i dang near straighten the hook. 

 

so i tied on another new jig and about 15 minutes later i straighten another hook on  fish right a 4 lbs flat. i feel like this shouldn't happen.

 

 

I dont believe in the term "setting the hook to hard" flipping but what are yalls experience with bad hooks on strike king jigs. i know there are other company's but there colors and styles give me the most confidence. plus there trailer holders hook pretty well.???

I haven't had any issues with sk jigs...the hook being straightened could be caused by the rod and line you're using.

The hack attack hook wont bent, supposedly its a saltwater grade tuna hook

no I never had that happen.. that sucks...!!!!

I'd contact SK and ask them. Might have been a bad batch out there somewhere. 

 

Otherwise I'd suggest you shop around and find a custom lure maker to duplicate your favorite color on a jig with a flippin hook. The kind that you can put in a vise and it won't bend, they look like elephant trunks they are so thick.

I have straightened the hook on SK jigs a couple times, but I was snagged on timber and using braid line.  I have never straightened one on a fish.  I would contact SK, and see what they say.

Yea and its not strait but instead of my hook shank and hook point being parallel there at about 90 degrees. Does anyone make there own jigs and if tso where do they get the parts. I would l like to use a 5/0 owner hook but I can't find a jig head that uses EM thanks guys

Poor quality hook not tempered properly. If you are having problems others using them have the same issues. You should not be able to open the jig hook bend catching bass of any size. Snagging and bending hooks or flattening hook points is a different issue.

All your answers are right here.  Once you fish them, you'll never go to brand name jigs again. 

Change the Head/hook to an Owner XXX strong hook.  I've researched this a lot and had others help in the research of a strong hook that holds up.  My Big O Jig or Jig head is one of the strongest made.

What's the power of your rod? If it's extra-heavy or somethin higher that may be the reason.

I found the replacment skirts from strike king for pretty cheap and I'm gonna order ten arky jig heads from siebert and she how it goes

Have Mike make you wire tied skirts on those jigs to match. Once you ditch the rubber bands, you'll never go back.

What's it run for custom skirts??

Sounds like you need some give in your setup. If the hooks are bending out, that is currently the weak link in the system. Going to a stouter hook will expose the next weakest link. You'd best hope it's not your rod. Or your spool. Or your gears.

Back off on the drag. You have to have some "give" in your setup.

I use SK jigs and never had a problem.  I even pulled up a big branch from 10 ft of water without straightening it out.  I'd give them a call about your issues.  I do use the Hack Attack Jigs though. 

Wire tie on your SK skirts. Only takes a minute, anybody can do it.

ive Bent a couple out on fish, once they are straightened out, i bent them back but it seemed like it was twice as easy to do it again, so i dont really use strike king jigs anymore.

There are some situations where I don't want any give and will lock down the drag while using 50# braid. In these specific situations if you give the fish an inch you aren't getting her to the boat. If the OP is fishing a lake or area that demands the fish to be removed from the cover or structure immediately before she buries then using a more stout jig may be the correct answer.
