Split grip Eva all the way. I do have some cork but for some reason I just prefer Eva. However if there is a rod I like a different grip isn't going to deter me from buying it.

I know i already posted but when i said synthetic i was referring to the neoprene handles on teh rage and extreme rods....i wasn't sold on it at first but after fishing my rage rods for about a year now, i really like them and wouldn't hesitate to get another.

 

Handle materials to me are low down on the scale.  If they fit my hand well that is the key.

The rage and xtreme handle materials are totally different from eachother. Im not even sure what the xtremes are made of but its almost hard yet has a soft touch. Interesting yet I really have taken a liking to it

Thanks J, guess I'm old fashioned, when you work in this industry for so long you become acquainted with others with there own unique talents that make appreciate your preferences even more!! My rod builder also internally balanced them to perfection with the reels 6 to 7 oz., the 6'10 MXF has a slightly smaller taper from the seat to center and flairs back out at the but cap I prefer the smaller feel for finesse techniques, the 7'2"MHM has a little beefier feel and barely flares at the but cap and feels better to me for heavier rigging, Carolina rigs etc. and bigger cranks. I just let him work his talents, at $50.00 a rod for everything built up from 1/2 wide cork disk's he supplies, he works way to cheap,,,,,but I ain't tell'n him!!    

I liked split EVA the first time I saw it but after a few trips I was over that and back to cork.

I think Mike and Robert have a ton of Septon knobs available.  You should PM them.  I know those cork knobs would sell in a heartbeat on the Flea Market.

Split grip EVA. I seem to get better casting distance due to the torque created by having a split handle instead of a solid one where the weight is balanced. Cork also gets slick/slimy after a lot of use and I feel like its going to slip out of my hands.

Always a full cork guy until i bought two BPS Carbonlites last year,now i prefer those and split grips. On my fly rods cork only!!

I prefer cork too. I have a few EVA handles but the cork to me looks nicer and seems lighter.

cork... no question.  love the feel and the look.

the only rod i own without cork it is my Veritas spinning rod...while i love the rod.  i hate the grip.  my index finger actaully goes numb after i use it a while.  seems that finger is more on the metal part than the actual grip???

I like cork and burl cork, but really I don't notice, so long as the EVA is about the same hardness as old school cork. What I really dislike is EVA for the butt cap.  It catches on my shirt too easily.  Cork or plastic doesn't.

That's the key for me too.  I like the looks of custom cork grips better but I'm cool with either for fishing, as long as the eva is hard.

All my offshore rods, I think most are made this way, have eva grips and for fighting some of the offshore speices they are pretty comfortable.  My freshwater and inshore rods are cork, but in cooler weather they get just a little slick but I still choose them.  What is the biggest importance to me is a foregrip, I wil not buy a rod without one, no exception.
