What Do You Want To Learn For The Winter Months?

Featured Replies

For me, I want to be a better jig and drop shot fisherman. I didn't use them much in the warmer months.

I would like to learn the real reason why I live in Idaho and not Florida.

That ice goes in your tea not on the ground ;)

I think my biggest goal would be swimbaits, swim jigs, and I would really like to learn how to use spoons for these brownies here in West Virginia.

What do I want to learn?  It has nothing to do with fishing.  I want to earn a license as a ham radio operator.  Go figure.  I'm 67, and still wanting to learn.

I'll b bass fishing until the whole pond is cover... if half of its not I'l***ishing... last year I read. A lot of books. So I think I'll go back thru and take it slower.. and prob add a few more to my collection.... I'm in my 6th read of bill Murphy's the pursuit of giants bass....

I going to try to learn not to buy so much stuff at the sportsman shows in the winter. I am also going to learn to make worm molds out of plaster of Paris and recycle all the used plastic baits I have been saving.

With all the reading and videos here plus on you tube I review it all to keep the edge fresh in my mind. I hammer videos all winter till the ice is off but don't forget to clean and lube your reels too. While it's still warm I wash my lures and tackle boxes to get all the oders out. It's also time to get the tackle room in order too. At the sametime I check my in-house stock on everything too.

It's also time to watch for sales and clearances too.

There's slot to do over the winter. But on espn I wish we had more fishing shows on tv. Shows like Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston, Hank Parker, the old Jerry McKinnis fishing shows. Jerry was the man who started it all. He was building one boat per year to fish for bass. This was life before the bass boat. I miss all this shows. Even the old black and white tv shows of gada bout gaddis aka The Flying Fisherman with his float plane. I was glued to the tv on every sundaynite watching him. I just wish we had fishing shows on primetime again. We need another espn channel with 24/7 fishing.

+1 Bill. I wish they had a channel that devoted 100% to fishing without any hunting or anything else. :-)

Not ESPN nor is it free but World Fishing Network is 100% fishing.

I want to really learn how to use my FF to the fullest. (Actually this is not only for winter months)

Jig for me. I took up drop shot last Winter and it paid off big this Summer.

Uhhhhhhh....................what´s "Winter" ?

I live in California, so i guess I'll still fishing in the winter, sorry guys. :) I watch enough videos during weeknights just waiting for the weekends. I can't imagine how crazy I'd go all winter!

This winter I want to learn lip-less cranks, jerk baits, and swim jigs.

This season began with a goal to learn the drop shot.  I ended up focusing on the mojo rig because of the conditions I fished most often.

Next is all about the jig ... namely those for flipping, pitching and swimming in and around grass.

Swimbaits and jigs. I am pretty confident about jigs, but would just like to improve more.

How to pour and/or dress my own jigs.  Been doing OK with small bucktails lately and thinking, "I could make these..."

I'll be learning how to be a dad this winter :respect-059:

congratulations
