Looking for a "tool" that gives a good cut to braid.  Tired of the in-between stuff that frays the line.

i either use my knife or the little scissors i have on a swiss army knife, whichever i have on me when i go fishing.

I got a set of KVD cutters from Walmart that work really well. They're pretty small and were around $10.

You need a sharp nick free blade to get a good cut on braid. I use a pair of rapala braid scissors and the only thing I have ever used them for is cutting braid. If you start cutting other things with a pair of scissors say mono you may end up putting small groves in the blade making it more difficult to cut braid. Maybe a 50 or 100 blade won't have that problem but I don't know. You could also use a lighter to get rid of the frays.

The Boomerang tool is the best, most convenient braid cutter I've ever used.  I have one everywhere I work on tackle or fish.

i purchased my Boomerang last week from TW. I've heard good things about them. I remember seeing a rep of theirs at BPS last year during the Spring Fishing Classic. It cut through 85lb braid he had like butter.

 

It looks convenient too. I can't wait to get/use mine.

The boomerang tool works great and so do fiskars safety scissors.

What is with all the metrosexuals carrying snips and such.   Get yourself a pocket knife and be a man.   Spyderco, Benchmade, Buck, Case, Kershaw all make great knives that will slice enough braid for a lifetime with a few sharpenings.

 

I have a lot of knives, but when I bought a Spyderco Delica Full Flat Grind with Japanese steel, I quit buying the others.  Love my Bucks though too.

So you're that guy with a tackle box full of lures with knots still attached.  A sharp rock will cut taut braid if that's all your trying to accomplish.

For a few pennies a disposable lighter works great, also puts a bead on the tag that can help eliminating pull thru.

I usually have a pocket knife on me that makes a quick clean cut. A disposable lighter is great to put a "ball" on the end of the tag so it can't pull through the knot. Another tip with scissors is to use the scissor blade more like a knife than a conventional open an close. Just slide the braid down the scissor blade and it will cut it clean. I've found when trying to cut with most any scissors it gives a "fuzzy" end that needs the lighter to clean it up

Another vote for the Boomerang. I've got two of them now.

I'm probably the only one who uses them, but I use pruning scissors for Bonsai trees.  They are fantastically sharp and generally made of quality metal.

I use nail clippers, really helps to cinch the knot down. I just got the kvd splitring pliers though, and they cut braid great.

Used the Boomerang Tool while fishing with someone last season and at the of the day I was convinced that I needed one.

Now I have 3, one in my boat and others in tackle bags. Best cutters I've had.

I think that OP stated something to "cut braid".  A sharp knife will do it.  And it will cut it off the O rings as well.

 

I don't use a lighter after tying.  Just an overhand knot cynched down to the main knot, just for safe measure.
