I really like 2 piece rods but am slowly converting to liking one piece rods.

 

Which do you prefer?

1 piece. I wouldn't own a 2 piece

I use a lot of 2 piece because I have a smallish car, but when possible I use my 1 piece rods.

I have 1 two-piece rod that I bought for travel. I like it.

When I go camping with the family and the CR-V is jam packed with gear, I have to take my 2-piece. Today, I had to load my daughter and two classmates in the Prius. I wanted to fish after so I had to take the 2-piece.

Normally I can put my back seat down so I drive around with all three rods in the car.

I don't see this as a question of preference, but necessity.

1 piece for me.

I had a 2 piece come apart one time after casting and that was it.

(It was probably my fault for not checking it first)

 I bought my first one piece last year. I won't be going back to two pieces.

I prefer 1 pc, but I do have a couple 2 pc rods that I use for travel in my trunk. 

I have both, but prefer the one pieces.  I only use the two pieces if I have to due to travel constraints.  However, I'm not sure if the one pieces are more sensitive.  For me it's psychological to prefer them.  Do you guys truly think they fish better?

I prefer one piece rods lately. I been changing to one piece when I can. The backbone feels more solid to me with the one piece rods. I still have a mix of both.

I haven't had a 2 piece for 15-20 years. I'll never own another.

I've never owned a two piece rod and don't plan on it.

Only 2 piece rods I own anymore are my surfcasting rods I use for catfishing on the river. Nothing wrong with a 2 piece rod, just no need for one.

I prefer one piece rods. That being said, I have seen many rod tips broken when tailgates and doors are closed. Two piece rods are also in my collection for that reason. I think everyone who has ever used a two piece rod has cast the tip off. That's why there's a lure on the other end. You reel the lure in, sheepishly look to see if anyone saw, put the tip back on, and fish some more.

all one pc, at 13 years old I found they out perform 2 pc. I will never go back even in travel situations.

A GOOD two piece rod will perform very comparably to it's one piece counter-part. The problem is, most over the counter two piece rods are cheap and aimed at the casual angler that takes the rod out of the trunk 3-4 times a summer. St Croix for one makes a line of good travel rods, or of course you can commission a custom build if find the need for a travel rod. As stated, it's more of a need than preference circumstance.

Only 2 piece rod I own is a fly rod, everything else is 1 piece.

Have and use both. Never lost a fish because of the rod being a 1 or 2 piece.

I only own a few two piece rods and I don't use them very often.
