Just wondering what bait everyone likes to use on their drop shot rig... And what size hook you use...

A 4 inch Berkley Power Worm with the tail pinched off wacky rigged.  Roboworm also makes an excellent variety of drop shot baits.

Depends on the lake, depends on the time of year, depends on the depth.  I can't pick any single bait and say I use it first time all the time on a dropshot.

Hook size depends greatly on the bait and whether I am nose hooking, wacky, or rigging.

I could expand but we've seen how  you feel about that.

Any soft plastic can be used, just match the hook to the bait size.

I've found that most any short, slender soft-plastic lure will do the trick.

But one lure I tend to favor is the Zoom 4.5 Finesse Worm (watermelon seed)

I really like to hook a zoom fluke through the nose with a 4/0 or 3/0 finesse wide gap hook.

Discontinued Berkley 3" drop shot worm (interested if anyone has any to sell). Hook size is 1 or 2 I can't remember? I just match hook to the bait size.

Hookingem and I have a couple resolutions for this year, and one of them is to put me on a drop-shot fish for the first time. I flip or pitch 95% of the time, so ds'ing and shakey heads have never really crossed my mind. I hope I'll be able to tell you all what my favorite bait for this technique is later on in the year, but for now I'm going to try a Baby Rage Craw.

On the other hand, Imma teach him how to flip.

Hang on tight. 

I'll use any 4 1/2 - 6" finesse worm.  Roboworm is excellent but Zoom and Netbait worms work fine too.  The 2 1/2 or 3" Berkley Gulp minnows are outstanding when the fish want something small.  I use size 1 (not 1/0) dropshot hooks.

Also want to try Jackall Crosstail Shad... Lots of buzz on this one.

Some other things to try - which I find to be especially effective - 4" Roboworms, 3" Sluggos and Case Helgrammites. All nose hooked. Good Luck!

4" floating finesse worm, Strike king make them in the Elaztech group. They got nice action and don't get pecked apart by baitfish (perch in my area).

I also use a hook for my drop shot rig.

For me its the Jackell cross tail shad
