Never tried any till a few weeks ago. Out with a buddy and one reel I had spooled sometime last year came off like a phone cord. He had a can of Reel Magic and offered me to try. I sprayed it, put it down for a half hour or so. When I picked it back up it was a night and day difference. Locally I found Ardent Line Butter, I applied to all my reels. Seems good too.

 

I hear alot of you guys mention KVD LnL, how do they all compare and advantages or disadvantages with each other, or is it all the same basically?

KVD Line & Lure Conditioner has NOTHING in common with Reel Magic.

Reel Magic is basically silicone spray which washes off on the first cast.

On the other hand, KVD bonds with the line and lasts for as long as you

fish the line.

Hmm. how does Ardent compare?

I tried the line butter and didn't like it all.

It left a film on the water, the reel and my hands.

After one try I gave it away, and been useing line and lure ever since. Won't use anything else.

I've never tried Reel Magic or Ardent but I love KVD's stuff. Really does make a difference.

I've used reel magic. No complaints but like said above washed off. Never used the Ardent brand I don't think. KvD line and lure is the real deal . Stuff works miracles. 

I tried the line butter, made everything way to slippery. After that I got the KVD stuff, its so much better. It works best if you spray it on the night before.

Just a FYI I read a few places today line butter is really slippery and oily. I sprayed a few reels the night before fishing and the next day did not notice any residue or evidence of. Seemed to work pretty good. Gonna order the kvd stuff next go round with bait monkey! Lol

Here is the difference in Reel Magic and KVD L&L Conditioner.

 

KVD Line & Lure is a special polymer blend that becomes part of the fishing line it is applied to. Other line treatments you find on the market are primarily silicone oil and solvents. Silicone oil only temporarily coats the line and solvents can damage line. Silicone oil rapidly comes off the line (on your hands and in the water), requiring re-treatment of the line after just a few casts.

The special polymers in Line & Lure are hydrophobic (water repelling) and very slippery. It doesn't allow water to draw back on to the reel spool, which eliminates the line drag that a "wet" spool has. It also protects the line from wearing out as quickly as un-treated line because it resists the abrasion that wears line out.  It contains no oils or solvents as in Reel Magic that can build up and collect dirt like silicone/oil treatments will. 

 

I agree on the greasiness of Reel Butter.  I ends up all over the reel and your hands.

KVD Line and Lure is a rare product.  Why you ask, because it does exactly as it advertises.    No exaggerated boasts, no false claims, just a product that works as advertised.   What more could you ask for?
