I'm about to spray paint all my lead weights black just to be on the safe side but do you guys think lead weights like 1/4 and up that aren't black scare fish sometimes?

Oh and I'm mainly worried about Texas rigs btw

There are days where the commotion created by the landing of a polen grain on the wáter surface sends them to oblivion just to be seen no more and there are days where the commotion created by a cow landing after falling from 10,000 ft will attract them.

Personally I´ve never fished with painted sinkers and it don´t matter much, lead don´t always looks bright and shiny, after a couple of trips it´s black and dull.

I use green pumpkin tungsten just for that reason. Idk if it actually affects the fish, but going natural colors can't hurt.

I can't believe painting your lead weights will improve your fishing, but it may keep you healthier.

Thanks guys maybe I won't paint them, I bought a boatload of new lead weights and their all shiny because my academy only carrys shiny ones, only black weights they had were tungsten and my wallet doesnt like tungsten compared to a 1.50$ pack of lead weights lol

Paint them I do my tungston and brass... I like to tweak things I caught plenty on plain lead bullet weight...

people have been using lead weight for hundreds of years.  Probably overthinking it a little.  Having said that, I use green pumpkin leads.

I don't think it makes a difference either. Besides, the painted weights I have used, including some Tungsten weights chip and expose their metallic color anyways.

No, but I use painted lead most of the time cause I don't like handling bare lead. I use black and brown ones, and I've never seen it make a difference.

All my weights 5/16 & under are lead unpainted, which I buy 100s. By the time I've lost 25 or so they are all dark grey.

I did get on the painted kick for a couple years

for craws I like those black lead weights you can get that have the red and white dots on the side that kinda look like eyeballs, I dunno if it makes a difference.

Walmart had an awesome deal with 1/4 oz strike king tour grade for a buck if thats not a steal then i dont know what is. It was all red and shiny, but i still catch plenty of fish.

Put them in some Coke for about a week, they won't be shiny anymore. 

I use to paint mine, but not anymore.  I never noticed a difference if the catching.

I don't think it makes a difference. However I use black weights because that's what Siebert Outdoors sells. Can't beat the price.

Big O thinks it matters so all my weights are painted.
