Your Oldest Bait?

Featured Replies

I read tonight that the Arbogast Jitterbug was introduced in 1938, that's 76 years ago.  Hey, I occasionally fish one of those!  That got me thinking... have we tossed aside effective baits just because a newer model showed up on the market?  What's the oldest bait (model, not individual) you still fish at least a couple times each season?

( I tie my own hair jigs, but I don't think the lead jig head can claim 76 years.)

My actual oldest lures I own is probably creek chub injured minnows or jitterbugs, I have a bunch that are 30+ years old...

Jitterbugs, Pikie jointed minnow, Spooks, spinners, and then the next generation of older lures which include Rapala original floating minnows and Jointed L&S Poppers

Original Floating Rapala is probably the oldest lure I actually fish.

Arborgast metal crawfish is the oldest I fish. I have an antique lure collection with some very old lures that I don't use.

Hair jigs date back into the 1800's, Al Foss started his pork rind lures in 1915.

I made my jig mold that is still used today in 1971 and fish these hair jigs nearly every outing.

The early Jitter Bugs are wooden models and I fish the wooden musky size occasionally at night.
