How Do You Hold Your Rods? - W/ Pics

This is how I hold my rods. I have 2 Cabelas Tournament ZX rods, a St. Croix Mojo Bass, and a Gander Mountain rod. I've found that I get a callous on my left hand middle finger. Sometimes it hurts but not too much. This is with any rod that I have. Is there another way to hold it that's more comfortable but still as useful? (I did have a St. Croix Rage baitcasting rod that I loved but it always pinched a nerve in my finger and sent shooting pain up my arm. After getting rid of it I never had the problem again.)

Is this serious? You hold it any way that feels comfortable. It's not rocket science. Experiment with different ways of holding it and find what works best for you.

It is very personal, what works for me may not work for others, like lipps said, hold it the way that suites you and your manner of fishing best!! That could be different for different types of fishing,,,,or should be!

I usually have my wife hold it, that just feels better.

I typically hold it with the trigger between the pinky and ring finger, from the sounds of it you hold it between the ring and middle. you will get better leverage holding it like I do, but if its not comfortable then it is counter productive. A suggestion might be getting a set of fingerless gloves ( like a golf glove and cut off the fingers ) or just take some sports tape and tape the area that gets bothered...

I have never paid any attention to how I hold it.  I hold it however I hold it, I guess.  I don't think I even hold all mine the same.  It might change depending on what I'm throwing on which rod/reel.

I hold it differently depending on what I'm doing, 100% personal preference.

i hope there's enough chapelle show fans to get the reference.... i laughed pretty hard myself.....  YEEEEEAAAAAAA

OP, you're going to get nothing but bad sarcastic answers to your question man....  it truly is personal preference.  i actually find with different reels i do it differently.  my tatulas are noticeably bigger than my other reels and require a slightly different method for holding than Abu or Shimano that i have....
