Kvd Squarebills In The Fall?

Featured Replies

When it comes to Fall Bass fishing I often turn to Crankbaits to put fish in the boat. Often times I find myself throwing a lipless crankbait, DT-6 or DT10 but a friend reminded me that Squarebill's can be deadly in the fall as well. The fishing was slow on this particular day but I was able to manage a 16" bass and a healthy 18" 3.5lb bass on a KVD 1.5.

Who else uses Squarebills in the Fall? If so, what brand do you prefer?

Everyone...

I do! Kvd 1.5s are great, haven't had as much success on the other sizes though. My favorite would probably be spro little johns. Their flat sides are perfect for fall, and the colors are awesome.

1.5 in perch has boated 3 of my 5 smallies today. Grabbing some food and we'll be back on the water until dark.

Squarebills work great in the fall. I would say the bomber square A is my favorite.

KVDs 1.5 when I want numbers and 2.5s for I want big bass. I usually fish 2.5s....

They are awesome and I have my best luck when I am "bumpin the stump " with my crankbait.

Yep. I use 1.5s all the time in the fall.

I agree, there's just something about a bomber

Another vote for Bomber Square A, Foxy Momma, on a wire leader because easily half the fish it catches are pike.

1.5s, Fall, BIG BASS all go hand in hand

I use squarebills almost year round

They really do work year round down here...

I fish with a KVD 2.5 pretty much all year long and it produces, working on LMB, SMB and pickerel.

Excited to see that my new KVD 8.0 should be on my porch when I get home.  I plan on throwing htem on the edges of the grass this weekend.  Hope the big bait means big bass.  I like 1.5 in the flats along with lipless baits.  I always seem to have both tied on at the same time.  Guess i can't make up my mind.  Also like the change up every now and then.

Thanks for all the input on squarebill brands! I will definitely have to check some out. Fished side by side a 6th Sense Squareill w/ a rattle and it outfished the silent KVD's. I wish we had more wood and stumps up here in the North but there is hardly any. Thankfully Squarebills get hammered when you rip it from grass/weeds though.

That bait looks awesome. I've thrown the 10XD before and now the 8.0 has my attention! Let me know how your success is with the 8.0

Squarebills are a year-round staple for me also. I like Bandit, H2O Xpress, and Norman Fat Boy.

The Square bill has been a solid producer for me all season.

Started catching my first trip of the season with the water temps in the high 40's and it's still taking bass here in Oct.

The 6th Sense Crush Flat X75 in Bluegill does most of the damage.
