Hello ,Looking for opinions on what you consider to be the best braid ,and why ?    

Regular Power Pro or Sufix 832

Been a power pro fan since they came out and were innovative textiles...

New seaguar Smackdown is some nice braid as well.

Why? Well, I've tried a number of brands and kept

returning to PP. Not that there aren't smoother lines

out there, or perhaps stronger...just that I am very 

comfortable with what to expect out of the line.

 

Plus, braid is expensive, which is one reason why I

decided to stick with it...

I guess there's some intangibles about braid preference that only usage will bring about.  I will say, while I've been pretty opinionated about what I like to use (Power Pro) I have tried quite a few newer name out there, and some notables: Kanzen, HeviCore, and Tournament * have been pretty good lines to use.

If you rip the arse out of your knickers, Kanzen is better for stitching up emergency repairs. Power Pro, on the other hand is better for sewing on buttons.

I hate braid too, but it's on around half my rigs.  Necessary evil for what I do.  Sort of like drop shotting - I bet everyone thinks I LOVE it.  I don't.  It's like watching paint dry, but there's really no other way for some things.

That is how I feel about fishing things like senkos and stuff. I need to be pretty much constantly doing something. The whole approach of letting a bait sit for a minute or more at a time kills me. That is like a last resort for me and I have to be really desperate to catch something. I will say though I am not against doing it when I am targeting bigger fish since lots of times you almost have to. But I would almost rather catch nothing then sit and stich a jig or something for 1# fish.

I don't have a problem working slow, but some things are a snooze fest.

The braid of my choice is Power Pro. Reason being: its really affordable, especially in Walmart. It casts very well and it's  easy to manage. I am sure the other braids mentioned are probably really good, but with PP so readily accessible to me and i have such a good track record using it, i really don't see the need to change brands. 

I have been a longtime 832 fan, but am starting to like Power Pro a lot. It seems like it holds its colour better and is a bit smoother. They're both great lines though.

i like power pro myself.  Don't think it's worth spending the extra $$ for the super slick though.  suffix 832 is good as well, but something about the powerpro just feels better to me.  aside from those two, i've only had experience with spiderwire invisibraid which i bought in a pinch one time.  doesn't even compare to the PP or suffix, not terrible line, but not as good as the other 2.

My preference is also Power Pro. I do however think the price difference between PP and S8S is a worthy investment. I still use more regular PP than S8S but there are certain things that I much prefer S8S for over PP. P-Line also makes a nice braid. I'm excited to try their new 8 strand braid.

 

I've fished Sufix Performance and 832 and while there's nothing wrong with these lines at all I just don't enjoy using them. They never let me down while I was fishing them though.

 

I've also had really good luck with Spiderwire products. The most coming on Stealth. I also like their Invisibraid.

 

SunLine braid is also a very good line I just don't like the way it fishes.

I've always liked Power Pro for many of the reasons others have already tossed out: It's sold all over the place and it's inexpensive by braid standards. I like the moss green color a lot for those times when I'm not fishing a leader - it blends in with the veg pretty good. The color holds for a while, too.

 

I've tried the Super Slick Power Pro and I'm not convinced it's worth the extra cost. Didn't boost my casting distant in any significant or obvious way and I'm not a fan of the white-green color.

What specifically is wrong with Kanzen ? ...I have some 8lb Kanzen braid on a 6.5" light action rod , a 1500 series Abu Garcia reel and use it with small lead head jig / grubs and beetle spins with a light drag setting , careful knots and it works fine ... Granted Bluegills  are not peeling off line and rubbing against boulders or I would be using a FC line ...Your mileage may vary .

I like regular old Power Pro just fine.  I put Sufix 832 on a couple of reels and I think it offers better handling; maybe less spool dig on baitcasters and less wind knots on light spinning gear, but I'm completely happy with Power Pro.  And as others have said, it's affordable and easy to find.

Power Pro............it's cheap, reliable, and available everywhere.

I like pp, sufix perf, and the seaguar kanzen.

Sufix Performance Braid for me.  I actually like it better than 832.

Lot of people like the Seagur Kenzen or Smacdown lines. I'm trying Spiderwire Stealth braid in #50 this upcoming year for flipping, frogging, A rigs and swimbaits. I'll let you know how it is and whether I decide to stay w/it or change brands.

Been a dedicated Power Pro user for years. The price is right, but it's a top notch line for use as well. I keep 8 and 10 on my spinning rigs and 50 - 65 on casting rods. Can't really say much about PP that's not already been touched on - casts great, strong, etc... I have used a few other brands but I've always come back to my PP. Can't go wrong with it.
