I have a 2014 nitro Z6 with 115 Mercury i bought august of 2013. Bought it from nitro dealer close to where i live. The guy i bought it from i have become friends with and joined the local bass club he is in last year. He has a 2005 Nitro 901CDX with 200 Mercury. He had hours pulled on it early this summer and said around 350 or 360 hours on it. In pretty good shape. Very minor chip up by the trolling motor that has been epoxied the right way and seats need re upholsterd. He is selling his boat for 18,900 but said if i was interested he would come down to 16,900 for me. I still owe 8500 on mine(4 year loan). I really like my boat, it performs well for the small waters that i have here in central illinois. Just the thought of something bigger peaks my interest. Just wanting peoples opinions on this and if it sounds like something you would do? I hate the thought of going from a 1 year old boat to a almost 10 year old boat. He is suppose to let me know how much he thinks he could get out of my boat on trade in tomorrow. Just wanting your guys opinions on this. thank you!

I'd say your boat is worth more than the nine year old.  Boats have a way of getting expensive to own as they age.  With proper maintenance, you should expect to get several years of trouble free boating with yours.  A nine year old boat???????

 

And having to lay out more $$$$$ just to get it?  Not a good deal in my book.

 

The bigger, older boat will  cost you more to run, and tow around.  Save those dollars, plus what you'd be putting out (losing) on the deal and in a few years, you'll be financially way ahead of the game.  Then go shopping for your bigger, better boat.

If you're happy with your boat, I'd suggest you to keep it.

He told me the boat is too big and hard to handle around docks and piers.

 

He likes my little Tracker as I can get into places he can't.

 

He won his first club tournament out of my Tracker be for he got the Skeeter.

 

Go figure.

You're making the right call sticking with what you've got. If you were standing on your boat every time you fish thinking I've got to have a bigger boat then it would be different. If what you have is doing what you need it to do then no reason to take on more debt and headache. The bigger one may well be a great boat but its a machine and it doesn't get better with time. No matter how well maintained, they wear out. Things that you don't even think about. Hoses, pumps, wiring corrodes, things work loose. You will have those problems with the one you've got sooner or later but hopefully by then its paid for and it's not monthly boat payment plus getting nickel and dimed on the little stuff wearing out.

Once you step out of the 150HP range things wear out faster.when it comes to boats big aint always better.but when it comes to women big can be better.i like um all as long as they can fit in my bed.
