Many pictures were taken to get all the distinct features of the fish and also a bunch of measurements were taken to get a replica mount made. I couldn't kill her, she is too beautiful. I'll let someone else catch her in a few years if she ever bites again!

Just think of it, most men fish their entire lives and do not catch a five-pound bass, let alone a ten-pounder.  You are now in a very elite group of people.  If I were in your shoes, I could die happy.  One of the last items on my bucket list is a DD.  I've come close, but still no cigar.  CONGRATULATIONS!

Exactly how it should be done. It's taken that fish a long time to grow that big. Who knows you might catch it again in a few years and break your Pb once more. Congrats!

Bass like this are not pulled out of Pickwick hardly ever, especially in tournaments.

 

Well, we have had more DDs reported in the last three years than in the entire history of the the lake.

There was an 11+ caught at Second Creek last spring. The guy caught her prefishing on Friday and

as luck would have it, again on Saturday for the win!

 

Most if not all of these Walmart Girls have been caught on the Alabama Rig. My theory is that these

bass have never been caught and were "uncatchable". Florida strain have been know to avoid artificial

lures, especially as they get older. This has not been generally observed in northern strain populations,

but here in the Mid South we don't expect many 10 lb bass!

 

The A-Rig is simply irresistable. A school of baitfish swimming in front of a bass triggers the fish's natural

instinct to strike. Three years ago I was staying with a couple of guys from our local Bass Pro Shops, but

fishing with my buddy, Speedy Madewell. That weekend both of these guys and another friend fishing out

of the same boat ALL caught their first DD, fishing The Rig.

  As soon as I looked at your 10.1 pounder, I knew there was hardly any doubt that she would be a double digit. The give away to me, is the length and thickness of the Bass' Tail. That's where the big ones carry a lot of their weight.

Yep! Have all of the measurements and pictures and I am going to call the taxidermy after Christmas to get it started!!!

We want measurements too.  How long.  Girth.  Man that is a drop dead gorgeous specimen.    Lake Fork Taxidermy.  Fish Scale Taxidermy.  Very impressed with what I see on Facebook with Anglers Choice Replicas.   Good luck.   We want to see the replica when you get it back!   Sorry to be a pain, but this is the time to brag and show off.  LOL  Massive increase in PB weights. 

 

PS, saw that Anglers Choice Replicas prices are going up Jan 1.

Guessing here...... 24.5 inches long with a 21 inch girth........  Please do tell!   The coloration is so pretty.   Lake Fork matched my sons up pretty well. FWIW

Awesome!  I consider Pickwick my home lake.  Not many DD's come out of there each year, and I have't come close there!  HAHA!  Congrats!

The lake is full of 5 and 6 pounders. I mean you can find schools with 20+ 4-5 pounders in the summer. There are a lot of big fish weighed in in the 6-7 pound range but not a lot 8 or above. I fish a tournament at least twice a month against most of the best fisherman on Pickwick and I have seen three fish over 9 lbs be weighed in this whole year and two of them were this summer during the FLW Tour event on Pickwick and the other was during a BFL on Pickwick. I'm not bragging at all because catching a fish like I did is pretty much right bait, right place, and right time. I'm just pointing out that the "a lot of big fish" that Roger Stegall is referring to are more in the 6-8 lb. range. 

I remember him saying he themes in fish in the 10 to 12 pound range weighed in at tournaments. and of course there was that 14+ pounder that would have been the new Tennessee state record caught a few years ago in Tennessee waters on Pickwick

If Roger is talking 10 to 12 pounders, he was talking smallmouth.  We've got moderators here that have seen 10 pounders and even seen world records on their line.  There have been multiple world record smallmouth caught and released out of Pickwick.   In one tournament last march a 12 pound 3 ounce bronzeback caught but was foul hooked, so it was released.  That had to hurt, but he did the right thing.

 

The OP is talking largemouth.  They don't get as big as smallmouths typically, due to the stout current on Pickwick but it is full of 5-7 pounder largemouth.     Over 8 is a super stout largemouth at Pickwick.   10 pounders are in there though, just like all the other Tennessee River lakes.
