After looking for and not finding another thread about this, I'm curious. What is everyone's preferred method for cleaning up greasy, gooey, and otherwise dirty lures in preparation for spring season? I've seen other answers online about using cola, warm water and  dish soap, and for plastics using a lanolin based cleaner. Thoughts?

I don't have any dirty lures, either.

If I did I would use tap water to wash off the dirt.

And store them in a compartment to remind me to use scent on them when I use them.

It's a 4 step process.

1.  Dump your tackle box.

2.  Clean your tackle box

3.  Clean your baits

4.  Refill your tackle box.

I don't have any "greasy or gooey" lures, nor have I ever cleaned a lure but I like Simple Green for general cleaning.

5% vinagar solution does a good job for mildew buildup.

I don't go nuts about cleaning my lures, if they're dirty they'll probably look more natural and taste earthy :). Plus, just throwing them will often clean them for you.

I blast it off with lunker face. Works like a charm.

I always use toothpaste and scrub w/ a toothbrush.

I learned that from field & stream and it works nicely.

When I do my annual wintertime lure hunting I come across lots of baits that need cleaned up. A scrub pad, soap, and hot water cleans them up pretty good for the most part.
