Small Swimbaits

Featured Replies

So there's been a trend lately on Lake Guntersville (in my area at least) and that is down sizing swimbaits to catch your limit, and then start trying to find the big momma.

My question is what are some smaller swimbaits (3 inch or 3.5 inch) that you guys would recommend? I know a guy in our club broke down and told me that he's been catching his limits on a 3" sassy shad with a smaller (1/4oz - 3/8oz) jig head).

I've looked around and all that usual suspects have came up, Yum Money Minnow, Shadlicious etc, I was just wondering if there are some others out there that i should look at.

Thanks!

Keitech Swing Impact is the ONLY plastic that comes to my mind to answer that question

Big hammers, keitech, basstrix, ripple shads, sick fish, weedless shads, grass minnows, decoys... I could go on but those are all top notch baits and cover all the variety of types.

X2 for this answer.  But would include the Fat Swing Impact as well.

I also like fats the best. But as for best producing swimbait I don't think basstrix can be beat.

Ripple shads are awesome rigged on a plain jighead or a small wide gap hook.

They are my favorite on a swim jig

LITTLE CREEPERS ALL AMERICAN TRASH FISH

Gambler EZ Swimmer (darker colors) weightless or weighted hook, and Lake Fork Magic Shad (white) with belly-weighted hook.

I bought a pack of  Yum Money Minnows that were meant for an umbrella rig and had good results. I got into a school of fish that were reluctant to hit a square bill but jumped all over the Minnow. But that was just one day and havent repeated it ,.

For small swimbaits I like the Keitech Easy Shiner in the 3 inch size. Nice and soft but still pretty tough.

Swing Impact Fat gets my vote.

not even close to the same technique.

If you told me you were flipping a jig into weeds, I wouldn't bash you and say a jig is completely different than a grass jig.

You really need to chill, you are bullying/harassing this guy at this point. Sure he did some semi-unorthodox things but he's new. With a little time he will adjust to the site and has every right to become a part of this community and utilize the wonderful resource that it is. Patience is a virtue.

Keitech and Havoc Grass Pig Jr.

I have never seen a grass pig maybe I should check them out.

Berkley makes a nice paddle tail swimbait.
