What's the consensus on prespawn lures. Like in anyother conditions I have ever encountered inline spinners in a slow retrieve works. Big long worms Texas rigged too

I always have good luck with Mepps inline spinnerbaits and creature looking baits.   I also have done well on crank baits this year, go figure.

I've had a lot of luck on spinnerbaits, small swim baits, lipless crankbaits, and square bills as well.

Most of the prespawn fishing I do is for smallmouth and the number one bait prespawn lake smallies prefer is suspending jerkbaits by a very wide margin. Lots of baits will catch them, but I catch twice as many with a pointer as all the other baits combined.

It could honestly be anything . Large spinnerbaits one day , small spinnerbaits the next day , crankbaits the day after that  ....

Lipless Crankbaits, Jigs, or wacky worms

I love using square bills, jigs, weightless trick worm/senko, Texas Rig... These seem to be my main producers in the prespawn.

Besides often being the first time of the season that I get out on the water, part of what makes Pre-spawn fishing fun is that the bass are often fairly cooperative.  This doesn't mean completely predictable however.

As mentioned here already, the effective baits / presentations can be all over the place from one day or week to the next.

Generally speaking, I'm having decent success when & if I'm able to get bit on some kind of Horizontal presentation.  Doesn't really matter what it is; could be a lipless, squarebill or mid-depth crankbait; could be a chatter or spinner bait as well.

This doesn't mean that when the Vertical bite is on that it's any less productive.  Quite on the contrary.  Days when the tube, or jig & craw or even the drops shot bite is hot, the action can be fast and furious - in a cool spring time day fishing kind of way.

Chasing the fish around the lake seems to be the biggest challenge both spring & fall for me.

Jerkbaits,Tubes,& Weightless wacky senkos are my top 3.

Weightless senkos rigged wacky style, the Ned Rig, small grubs fished on the bottom, and once it gets closer to the spawn crawfish colored crank baits.
