Freshwater Drum

Unmistakably a drum, or sheepshead as they're known up here.

Yep, that's a drum. They're lots of fun to catch, they fight hard, just not much stamina. Some folks say they're good eating, but I've never tried them.

Goo!!

I affectionately refer to them as a Dorkfish.

Coming from a saltwater background, I was surprised how easily they gave up compared to a black drum or a redfish.

Most freshwater fish fight less hard than saltwater fish. The first time I went saltwater fishing I was astounded at how hard the fish fought for their size.

ick. I would not eat one unless my life depended on it

So whats de difference between that and a redfish? I was told it was the same thing, but that one didn't have the red dot?

They are different species. That and if course one lives in freshwater, the other salt.

oh I see,I looked for freshwater drum and found it.

I've eaten them in a mess with other fish and couldn't tell a difference.
