Good for you!  People ask me all the time when I'm going to shave my beard.  My response: "It's not ready yet."  My two favorite "bearded" expressions:

 

"Women should date men with beards... because growing a beard takes patience - the kind of patience it takes to deal with their sh!t."

 

"It's good to have beardless friends. People will think you're their leader, and they'll be right."

Jags haven't heard that second one. I told my gf the first one when we started seeing each other and she said she didn't like facial hair.

Can't grow mine because of work. We can have mustaches, but I'm not growing the Farva.

We're allowed moustaches & 'chops' only as long as they don't interfere with our mask's seal. No hair below collar either, even though our nomex hood covers our heads.

This would be my appoach.  IN my single days i had both a social imgage and buisness image.  My hair and beard were trimmed at a salon, along with massage and manicure.  I went usually every other Friday afternoon.

I keep in short now so I do it myself, one of my neighbors is hair dresser, she comes over to cut my hair.

I tried. Don't think I made it a month. Couldn't stand the itch. As is, with my own business where I do not interact with folks face-to-face, I shave two to three times per week.

While I've never thought keeping the top layer of skin scraped off was a good idea, too much beard makes my skin flake and itch due to irritation.

I shave my head, face,and neck every day. .

I've made the decision to not shave for a whole year. The gf hates the idea of it but its my face I don't care if she threatens to bring the clippers in my sleep. Now is just trimming the neck line up considered shaving when growing out the awesomeness off a beard or just let it go free un touched for a year.

 

Were you the guy who got zapped for trying to buy razor blades in that commercial?  Or maybe the guy who got down to his skivvies in order to get razor blades?

I can't grow a lumberjack type beard. I can grow a beard, but it is more of a Amish type beard. Thanks to my Irish blood. It is a light red rust color. That means even I don't shave for months. It looks like I have some dirt on my upper lip. I am glad I cant grow a killer beard. I would not want to grow it because of my trade. Just a FYI. A beard that has cutting oil in from work + 1000 degree metal chips. Equals you beard can catch on fire. Yep it happened to me.
