It would have to be 8 to 9 lbs if measured correctly.

Is there a pic or am I missing something?

That calculator is not very accurate. It always weighs high. I have taken numerous length x girth measurements with digital scales & boga scale weights & it always weighs above the actual weight. Example my pb largemouth was 26.5" long by 19" girth & weighed 11lbs-2 oz. The weight calculator puts it at 13lbs-1oz. My pb smallmouth was 22.5" x 17" and weighed 7lbs-6oz. the calculator puts it at 8lbs-7oz.

Bigger than the biggest largemouth I've caught recently that was an inch shorter and 2 inches less in circumference and that fish weighed 7.76, so I'd guess around 8.5-9 pounds. After reading your FB post though I see I was a little off.

Ok. I was just saying if that is right. At least I know not to trust it now. BTW. Those are some monster bass.:)

It was weighed on two different scales. One said 9lbs 14 ounces and the other was 9.89 lbs. I think the fish caculators very. Nothing beats the scales. I know a largie will weigh less then the smallies. Smallies are more solid and also more dense in the fleash. Caught lots around 6,7 and the occasional 8 but this one was a beast. And btw if doubting the 6,7 s check some old posts on here of mine from last year;)

Is there a picture of the angler who caught the fish holding the fish? I didn't see it on Facebook.

That`s a HAWG!

I just looked up the Ontario fishing records. The current record for smallmouth bass was set in 1954. It weighed 9.84lbs & measured 24" long by 18.3" in girth.

What'd she eat?

Mercury must be loving the pic.

Beauty for sure.

Wonder what would be heavier in inchs? Length or girth? Seems im short a inch but my girth is a inch bigger. Would ya think a 23x19.25 is bigger then a 24 x 18.3 or reverse?

  • Super User

I think girth.  A shorter girthier fish always weights more than a lengthy skinny fish!
