Inexpensive Prop Baits

Featured Replies

Looking for suggestions for prop baits, most of them are over $15, besides the heddon torpedo Iv only found the H2O express slush daddy. Why so few budget options with prop baits?

The H2O bait is a great bait. They have 2 versions, the Slush Daddy and Slush Minnow. I have both and they both work. I like the Slush Daddy more when they're feeding heavy on bluegills. Hard to go wrong at $4 and $6 apiece.

I got a couple slush daddy's to try, I like the h2o express baits so I figured they would be good, haven't got to try them yet.

TheDevil Horse is popular and inexpensive .

I'll have to give them a try

There are larger spooks that have props single and double.

Check "over stocked bait & tackle" (sale) I'm not sure but they may have them.

Check ebay for used lures.

Torpedo

But most prop baits are made of balsa hence their cost.

Often overlooked and under used.

I like the floating minnow baits with props on them . I bought several Bomber Prop A's when they were discontinued . Bagleys use to put them on the Bang O lures ,they may still make one . I dont know if any makers are manufacturing them today . My single best day of fishing ever was with a Prop A in post spawn conditions .

edited. Bagleys spin tail Bang O lures are still available . I saw some on amazon .

Checkout, brannans bass shop online. I think they have prop baits listed in there topwater section.

Dang man, I don´t know where you are looking for them baits that you only find 15+ bones a pop, actually I´m pretty shure 90% of prop baits available in the market are less than 8 bucks.

H20's are alright. The Slush Minnow comes with hooks that are on the small side. And the bluegill one is fatter than I expected, but both baits still work fine and make a commotion.

Another vote for the Heddon Tiny Torpedo.

Heddon Torpedos are pretty affordable, and I think the Smithwick Devil's Horse is the least expensive of all of the name-brand prop baits.  They work very well!

Tight lines,

Hands down, my best performing prop bait is the Yo-Zuri 3DB Prop. Little on the higher side of a "budget bait" but these things are the cats meow.

My favorite prop bait . The discontinued Bomber Prop A . I have a couple used and three in reserve .

I too like the yozuri 3db prop bait. Come in good colors and the props make good noise/splash with the slightest twitch.

Cordell sells a couple of inexpensive prop baits that've been catching bass for years.  The Boy Howdy and a smaller bait that I believe is called a Crazy Shad.

That and the popper are the only 2 3db baits I don't have, but if all the others are any indication they are top notch in terms of action, durability, and everything else.

Hey scaleface, I found these old Bang-O-Lures in one of my boxes. I gotta baby bass one too......somewhere around here.

The Bagley Bang-O-Lure has 2 versions, they have the spin tail jerkbait and the Bang-O-Lure twin spin prop, both are killers!!! The Yo-Zuri 3DB Prop is just incredible, it has a single rear plastic prop that throws water really well and has a very distinct sound, right now we are hammering smallmouth on that bait and they are only $8 and $9 bucks but my local Cabelas just had them on sale for $6.99.
