Considering it's more difficult to break a reel than a rod, maybe they'll have better luck this time.

Hmm...

With their reputation for rods, why would anyone try their reels?

Yeeeeah... no.

No chance in hades for me.

I love their rods, but reels?  The casting will come in left and right hand retrieves, looks like it only comes in 6.3:1, it comes with two interchangeable handles, and weighs 7.2 to 7.6 ounces.  They have two models one with 6 bearings ($149) and one with 11 bearings ($249), so it's actually a fairly expensive reel.

They are going to have a spinning reel also, that will some how be able to switch reel speeds from 4.7:1 to 6.7:1

We'll see, but it will be hard for me to switch from Daiwa to Carrot Stix when it comes to reels.  Especially considering the price.

Carrotjunk reel or Chronarch ?

Such a difficult choice ..... hmmm, nah.

" I can't wait for these Carrot Stix reels to come out!!"  Said no one ever.

Oh my goodness. Seems like nowadays if a company makes a rod they have to make their own reels too...

So here is my two cents on this company. I am a Boston guy. Up here Charlier Moore is akin to Roland Martin everywhere else. I like Charlie very entertaining and great guy. He is extremely generous and after he was too busy to do a guide trip for me last year mailed me a package of free goodies gear, books, autographs, spices, hats etc over $200.00. So my Dad watches Charlie Moore and its about the time I get into fishing.

He wants a carrot stick because Charlie Moore uses one. So naturally Father's day rolls around and I get him one. That was five years ago. He broke his first one, got a replacement and you can add an additional rod for cheap. So I get myself one. 2 years later my dad breaks his again. For a guy that fishes regularly they are fine if your not highsticking or cracking the whip on a hooks. If you have a newer guy/gal on the Rod its a matter of time till this thing explodes.

Fail

i wonder if these reels will cause a rod breakage when you set the hook.

The looks are decent, but I doubt you'll find one in my boat unless someone else brings it to use.

Thing is, they don't.  Just yet another rebrand.

Yep. That's what I meant. Thanks for clearing that up

They look nice but there company's reputation is not the best to say the least...

thanks but no thanks.  i'll stick with the proven leaders in the reel game.

They use carrots to make the reels too?

Looks like an okuma Citrix....

they are trying to re build their brand which I respect.  A new owner took over and is trying to bring them back...no problem with that imo.  However, he chose  one heck of a challenge lol

Why revive a damaged brand name? Makes no sense to me, especially with the way the brand gets trashed around here-if you guys are any indication, they will be losing some money in a big way.

Like Grant said, somebody is trying to revive the name. I haven't seen him around for a while though. And we were just talking about Daiwa losing it

I agree, these guys would have been better off starting a brand new company.  At least then they would be starting from zero, instead of negative.

I wonder if this is a ploy, they're secretly designed to break other rods with use so Carrot isn't the only company with the problem of excessive breaking? If not I don't understand in what world a company with such a poor quality rating would make a baitcaster. The pinnacle of elitism when it comes to quality.

Can't wait to see these new reels from Carrot Stix.  Very exciting.  Been using these rods since 2007 and never had any issues.  All major rod manufacturers are in the reel market also.  They are trying to build a brand and expand their product line.
