Winter time Texas rig plastics

Featured Replies

I fish a lot during winter time. I mainly use an a rig, chatterbait, grubs, and jigs.

What style plastics are the most productive in wintertime? Our water temps get down to around 42 degrees.

Big Craw Worms. ;)

I've caught fish in winter on a taxes rigged chigger craw. Just fish slow.

Zoom Critter Craw...smaller size but both are good in cold water as they have limited action...As mentioned, any presentation can work or worm etc. but usually slow is key. I like to downsize usually, but a critter craw is a good start imo. Also grab some small 3" sassy shads on darter heads for suspended fish.....inexpensive and do the job.

I would Texas rig something with not a lot of action like straight tail worm or something.

Not a T-rig exactly, but I do well dragging a beaver on a swinging football head during the winter. I've also done well dragging a tube on a T-rig in cold water.

Plastic craws for me - mostly Chigger Craws and Ultravibe Speed Craws.

Our water doesn't get cold as 42 degrees but I've done well with the Zoom Ultra-vibe speed worm.  It has a little bigger profile with a little tail action

none my lake is ice :(

The  colder the water the slower I want the lure to fall . So instead of worms I like Craws with twister  pincers . Havent tried it yet because  I dont fish cold water much anymorw , but a hula grub should be effective .

Whichever you chose, fish it slow!

I use craws, finesse worms, and creature baits mostly.  Anything small and compact.
