Any michigan guys here

Featured Replies

Yeah it does have some steep drops and yeah you can either launch at the county park there or take the long trail from the state game area to the little makeshift launch

Hey guys im from michigan the lapeer county area my favorite local lake is murphy lake. I was wondering if anyone else is from michigan. The largemouth fishing isn't as popular as the smallmouth and walleye fishing. What are some of your favorite lakes in Michigan? By the way this ice is makin me crazy lol

Yes sir,I'm 8 miles from Murphy Lake. I spend more time on that lake than any other because I'm so close.I try to make it to St Clair when ever I can.I love Fletchers I try to make it up there 2 or 3 times a year.

I mostly fish whatever small, low-traffic lakes I can find within an hour of grand rapids (the "low traffic" part is much easier said than done). Two biggest so far this year, 3.8  on a livetarget crappie, and 3.5 on a megabass pop max:

I also hooked one of the biggest bowfins I have ever seen Monday morning on a Cavitron Buzzbait, before having it shake off kayakside. Wish I had a picture, but glad I didn't have to land the beast.

I'll be on the lookout for yea,I fish Murphy with a 17' Bass Tracker. Wouldn't mine hooking up with u sometime  and trading lake secrets. My buddy just bought a house right by Holloway. We've talked about hitting it during the week sometime. We both know it gets crazy out there on the weekends.I got a 20' Triton that I take to Lake Nepessing.I could stop by and pick u up sometime when I'm a lone wolf.

I would be shore fishing.

The resivor isnt the greatest for bass fishing real good for walleye. The rails to trails bridge usually produces. If i was you i would head to lapeer and goto lake nepessing alot more spots to fish from shore

i grew up around lake nepessing. As far as i know the only public access is the boat  launch.

There is the old i think lake inn restaurant that is closed that i see people fishing off all the time

I always forget about that restaurant down at the end. thanks for the reminder

Michigan man checking in too. I live in Macomb. I have a tournament out on St Clair tomorrow so I can hardly focus at work today. I did pretty well in my first tournament on Union Lk would have taken 1st but had a fish die and the penalty moved me to 3rd. Tight lines Michigan fisherman!

Just got my PB out at Holloway today. 95 degree heat. Water was warm. Was driving and seen a spot that looked like there would be some bass. Pulled over. Walked a quarter a mile through the woods. Waded out about 50 Feet on the shoreline. Tossed a buck tail out and second cast I thought I hooked a Pike the way it was fighting. Got her in and it was a 2.8 pounder. Was astonished since fishing on Holloway has been really bad for a while now. Phone was so dead from work that I wasn't able to take a picture. I was half temped to keep it but had about two hours of running to do and I don't usually keep fish from water where the fishing is so on and off.

E* I just got into bassing by the way, lol. So a 2.8 PB is good in my eyes. I was really surprised at how sharp the teeth were. That means it mostly feeds on fish, right ? Not like crawdads or anything like that. Also he was very colorful that means he mostly stays in cover, correct ?

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~

Congrats on the PB, they are Always a Blast.

As for the teeth being sharp meaning the fish only feeds at night, I have never heard that before.

A-Jay

I read somewhere that if their teeth are dull that means they have been feeding on hard prey such as crawdads. And if their teeth are sharp that means they have been feeding on soft prey like smaller prey fish. Thus leading you toward a better bait or lure choice. Thanks for the warm welcome, by the way. I plan on using this website daily.

If their teeth are sharp it means you caught a pike, musky or walleye ;)
