What line do you/ should I run on my fiberglass crank rod? Mine has unknown mono on it right now, and the combination of a very 'absorbant' moderate action rod and stretching mono is overall too stretchy for my liking.

I hooked a ~2-2.5lb largemouth on a squarebill the other day and couldn't tell if it was a fish or clump of weeds for the first half of the fight, and it wasn't hooked very deep/well. It's a mhx CCB834 6'11 with a MRF adjust-a-butt so it's really ~7'2-7'8.

I was thinking something in #10 so most cranks will run true to advertised depth. The reel is an old shimano bantam mag plus 5.3 but I like it because it has an on/off drag, so if I'm 'playing' a big fish on 10lb I can backreel instead of depending on drag. 

I could really use some help picking a good line for this setup, and I haven't seen much talk about fiberglass here so maybe someone else will find this helpful as well.

Braids small diameter will get you a little more depth in addition to the lack of stretch. That said I run 10# mono on a glass Rod (Lamiglas sr765) and can feel baits vibrate. If you have to contend with zebra mussels braid will need a leader. 

I could feel my lures vibrate, so maybe it's not as bad as I thought. Would 10lb trilene xl do the trick? I have some of that laying around 

I run 10lb invisX fluorocarbon or 20lb braid on my crankin rods. For square bills I use a 15lb fluoro leader because of the added benefit of abrasion resistance when deflecting baits off cover

I like 10lb. invisx or 8lb. capps and coleman mono  also on my deep crankbait rods..

I use 10lbs P line copolymer.   I also use 30 lb braid with a leader.

If that is not an "old" blank the spec says it is actually a nice glass/graphite composite rated for 10 to 15 pound test.  I think a 10 # copoly line would work well. The "unknown" line may have too much stretch to be useful on a slower action blank like that. Try a line like the P Line floroclear or even straight P line cxx in 8 pound. Personally braid on cranks is my third choice and I would run a line like Power Pro in say 20 pound which is about the same as 6 pound mono in diameter

I use the Berkley Trilene Big Game 12lb but I dont usually crank deeper than 10-12ft. So it works great for me. 

10-15 lb. big game depending on the cover.heavier if throwing in heavy timber.20-25 lb.

I'm running trilene XT 10# right now for my deep cranks. I would personally use the XL you already have unless you only like square bills. Then I would get something a little tougher since they are normally used around wood

Using Sunline Natural mono in 14#test with a dia. of 0.012.

I picked up the P-line fluoroclear in #10, I couldn't find Yo-Zuri anywhere in stores near me. I think it'll do the job fine, if not I'll switch the 20lb fireline crystal I have on another rod to this one. Thanks all!

I have a Gen2 Revo STX spooled with 20lb Sniper paired with a Phenix X3 glass rod - I use it for heavier crankbaits/chatterbaits and it works like a charm.
