i have some roboworm rebarbs in 1 and 1/0 that I use to Texas rig weedless drop shot 4-6 inch worms. 

What is a good brand and size to nose hook baits?

 

I really like the Gamakatsu Drop shot/Split shot hooks. I usually use a size 1.

I just recently bought my first dropshot rod, and since its new to me, I followed Glenns advise in his video on getting the dropshot hooks that have a swivel built in right on the hook itself. I found them at dicks sporting goods,. Gamakatsu dropshot swivel hooks I believe their called,..expensive, but intelligent. I cant wait to hook up with that setup

For cheap standard hooks go with Gamakatsu Drop Shot/Split Shot hooks in a size 1, 2, or 4, or get the Owner Pro Pack Mosquito hooks in size 2 or 4.  If you want to take the guesswork out of getting the hook to stay straight up get the Blakemore StandOut hooks.  If you want the more expensive hooks to reduce line twist look into the VMC Spin Shots or the Gamakatsu G-Finesse Swivel Shot/Drop Shot hooks.

I normally use Gamakatsu worm hook #2, becuz I got a lot of snag underwater. When the worm tear unhookable with worm hook, i will use mosquito hook for those.

VMC spin shot is good, but I give that all to my friend since he doesnt know how to tie dropshot rig.

skip those weedless dropshot/waggy hook from Gamakatsu, I tried those and dont like it at all.

I have some vmc spinshot. They work rather well. 

@blckshirt98 can you comment on how much of an issue line twist is, and the relative value of spinshots over the "non-swivel" dropshot hooks?

I like hyabusa #2 drop shot hooks. The are the lightest wire hooks I have found and they keep a sharp point all day. I have been using them all summer and almost never lose fish. If the fish stays on for longer than a second it will make it to the boat. Sometimes I try to shake fish off in the water so I can get back to fishing faster, but almost never have success doing that because the hook penetrates so well. I use braid mainline with a coppoly leader and never notice line twist. If you use straight mono you might see some line twist, but you can normally get it out by making a long cast and then pinching the line tight between your fingers as you reel it back in, letting the last few feet hang and spin.

Many of the pros at the last few Elite events talked about using the VMC Neko hooks for dropshotting and how they never lost fish.  I have always used the Gamakatsu Split Shot/Drop Shot hooks with good results.

I use the VMC "Spinshot" hook and Trokar equivalent. I use a few sizes but most common for me is 1/0

Line twist in the traditional sense isn't a big deal for me since I use braid mainline with a small swivel between the braid mainline and fluoro leader.  I do see some improvement when using the VMC spinshots in preventing the tangled mess when a fish flops around causing the dropshot weight to twirl around everything like a tetherball, but not enough to deal with the extra knots to tie, so I mainly stick to the Gamakatsu Drop Shot/Split Shot and Owner Mosquito hooks.

I prefer the plain Gamy dropshot hooks.  Fishing vertically 99% of the time, line twist isn't really an issue using 6lb fluorocarbon.  The Spinshot and similar hooks that incorporate a swivel work OK but jmho, the plain hooks are lower profile and work just fine as long as you know how to tie the knot properly for a dropshot.

I find if you're zipping the bait back up from the depths a lot, you get more twist, than if you reel it back at a more moderate rate.  Helps if you hook the bait dead center, too.

the only drop shot hook I use is size 4 and size 2 lazer trocar

For the Roboworms you are talking about, I use Gamakatsu Drop/Spin Shot 1/0 hooks. For slightly larger baits, I use 2/0 Owner Mosquito hooks. Those are great hooks, and the "Pro Packs" are a great deal. Like other people, A also like the VMC Spinshot, but only when fishing the classic, vertical drop shot presentation. Not as confident with them when I'm working at an angle or doing any significant casting.

I swear by the VMC spinshot hooks size #1.

Maybe it was a bad pack, but after breaking 2 Gammie DS hooks fighting fish, I gave them all away and started using Owner Mosquitos.  Haven't had any issues with them.  I use 1/0 to 8 depending on how bulky the bait is.

Could have been a bad pack.  Can't say for sure, but I had some mosquito hooks break while salmon fishing.  I didn't really put much thought into other than maybe a a bad run.  Still use them, no other issues.
