When I'm fishing a jig or anything for the matter that i have to hop or jig while using braided line, the line wraps around the tip of my rod.

 

 Any tips?

My guess would be that you are hopping a little too forcefully.  This happens to me sometimes and it's always when I allow too much slack in the line and loose "contact" with the bait.  

 

I plan to fish jigs a lot more this coming season and from what I can tell, keeping tight or at worst only very slightly drooping line is the trick to feeling what is sometimes a very soft take from the fish.

 

Sometimes it happens to me when I swing on a fish and miss.  Not much I can do about that I suppose.

There are some tip top models less prone to tangle if you want to get that aggressive on the issue. 

Drives me nuts.  I know EVERYONE says there's no twist effect on braid, but there is.  It results in wind knots and tip wrap.  Troll it out, and reel in between your thumb.  It's also the reason I don't prefer a really "limp" braid.  I like it to have some body.

My father and I have the same problem.  We fish our jigs "aggressively" most of the time. This happens when the braid gets twisted (like what your line will do if you throw a spinner with a spinning rod w/o using a ball bearing swivel, yuck).  My jig rods have the kigan tangle free top guides which help a little.  Your best bet is to try and get the twist out of your line.  I do two things:

 

1) I'll cut my bait off and let all of my line out (drag behind the boat as I go forward with the trolling motor).  Then I reel it back in slow, holding the line super tight in my fingers.

 

2) I'll reverse the braid on my spool.  

 

These are obviously only temporary fixes and you'll have to repeat every few trips, but they should help.  They do for me anyway.

Exactly.  We call it "strokin' a jig" up here.  Not sure if that's the official term, but I've seen it in a few articles written about it.

I just can't bring myself to call it that HA!  I'll have to tweak the description of the technique a teeny tiny bit just so I can coin my own term for it.  Maybe something like "power poppin" or "snap crackin."  Hey! I got something new for you Bassmaster magazine! 

Tip wrap is caused by twist in conjunction with excessive slack especially in windy conditions..

Happens to me on my carbonlite rod when I am fishing a HB frog. I've had a lot of knots and tangles on my tip top. I've even managed to have tangle on the 1st or 2nd guide down. Usually on a failed hookset.

PITA!!!!

 

Doesn't seem to happen on my Savvy 743C though.

a wise man tell me that trick awhile ago and it works like a charm. I have daiwa j-braid 20lbs which is pretty soft on my spinning rig every once awhile I'd get windknot or tip wrap, all i have to do is to cast it out as far as I can and reel it back in with my thumb pinch between the line.

I agree about Windtamer's line management advantage.  I've just gotton so spoiled  to 8 carrier and fused lines that 4 carrier seems noisy.  Not many guys know about the product but it's made in Kentucky by a company that has been involved in the manufacture of super lines for some time.  They've produced Spectra products for other brands.

Fins has been around a long time, I used It for off shore fishing for over 25 years because it was round and Teflon coated a big advantage for fast fish like Marlin and tuna.

The Carbonlites are very bad about tip wrap.  I love my Carbonlite but I had to learn how to fish it to minimize this

I've lost fish/broke rod tips bc of this...and yes, I do "stroke" the crap out of my jigs , pop them as hard as I can on slack line.

 

Wonder if spiral wrapping would help on casting rods, or some kind of hybrid, guide-less tip (remember those inter-line rods daiwa put out years ago? no guides at all!)

A friend of mine thought that the line-thru rods were a great idea until he bought one and used it. The sensitivity wasn't there and about 3 weeks after buying it he tried to sell it to me. I was born at night but not last night.

I am going to replace the carbonlite hopefully next year with a  custom build. 1 I have issues with the wrapping of the braid and 2 I don't like how it loads up with the HB frog. My hook up % is far lower than with my savvy. The Savvy loads up real nice.

You would think line-through, sans guides, would make a rod more sensitive, but who knows? I recall the casting wasn't all that great with the interline rods, but I'm talking about some sort of hybrid where only the last 3 inches or so of the rod tip is line-through.
