Fishing with kids

Every time I hear about a kid catching fish, it brings me back to my first days in the sport with my dad.  One of the greatest things about fishing isn't just the fact that it never gets old, but the fact that the memories don't either.

We all have so many great memories of fishing, and now many of you get to pass that along to your kids and start building memories together.  I don't have any kids of my own but  I am very involved with getting kids into the sport.

Anyway, I figured I would start a post where you can all show off your junior champions. So let's see 'em!

BTW, parents, be sure to share this post with your kids, let them know you are so proud of them that you want to share it with all your fishing friends!

Great idea, Glenn. I'll have to dig up some pix of my

boys fishing. Got plenty of them, but none too recent...

Therein lies the problem. My kid is 26. All the pictures I have of him as a youngster are actual pictures. I might have some on the computer from his late teens, but nothing earlier than that.

Here's one of my niece who is now 16. She was 8 or 9 in the picture. Please, no comments about the vest being unbuttoned. We were in a protected harbor tied to a dock.

My oldest just turned 3 but he's already a pro. He asks to go fishing at least a few times a week even now when it's too cold out for him to go. He caught his first fish all by himself this last year when he was only 2.5. He's not at all scared to hold a fish and already has his professional pose down. Loves going to Bass Pro and picking out baits and looking at the fish.

Getting my kids to put down their electronic devices and enjoy real life was a primary reason I actually started fishing. Here is my youngest this past September with his first fish. He was so happy!!!

My son got his first bass last year @ 6 years old. We where fishing in a pond I go to just to catch somthing. He kept thinking he had somthing so with a boy who cried wolf I hadn't paid much attention to him saying he caught a fish I figured he hooked some vegetation. Till I heard the splash of the bass jumping and sure enough he did get his first bass. The look on his face says it all.

First pic is my dad coming along for my little girls first trip to fish.  It has to be one of my all time favorite pics.  The last 2 are of me and the boy fishing a yearly tournament called fishing pals.  This past year we fished a local team trail and finished 14th out of 40 teams.  Making memories.

The person that keeps Ole Catt on his toes is my grandson Aiden (Bayou Boy) Savant!

This is my youngest. He loves fishing. Just turned 6 and outfished the 10 year old and 12 year old every time we went out this last summer.

My nephew Connor, who my wife and I raise, and his first bass caught on a spinnerbait.  The funny thing about it is my 23 year old son is in town visiting and now wants to learn how to fish. He had no interest in it until Connor started talking about it.  He is also obviously wearing a shirt in honor of @Catt

This is my 20 year old joslyns smallie.jpgdaughter with her first Smallie, we had a great day on winnipesaukee last summer. Next pic is my youngest at 11 years old 2 summershaleys smallie.jpg ago up on Androscoggin in Maine with her first smallie.  Funny part is, before they ever caught smallies they were just ok to go fishign with me,...since their first smallies? almost every discussion includes somewhere in there, going smallie fishing,...lol

I just say they have good taste!

My little man last summer, he went out in the kayak with me a couple times as well.

My grandson Lachlan on his first fishing trip with me. It was a two thumbs up day for us. This was the smallest 'gill he caught that afternoon.
