Based on reviews the Powell Inferno seems like a good rod for the $100 price tag. Does anyone have anyone like these rods? 

Never used the Inferno but I have 3 of the older Powell Max rods.  They're all crank models.  Pretty plane Jane rods but they're nice. 

I had 2 Inferno ML spinning rods, one I bought & one I won in a club tournament. I really liked them - light, sensitive & balanced well with a Revo S. A club member started building rods so I was using his & sold the Infernos after about a year and a half. While I never had an issue, the guy I sold them to said he started losing guide inserts pretty soon after buying them. Not sure why he had the problem & I never did...

I'm not familiar with the Inferno, but the Powell Max runs with the big dogs.

I don't like them, I love them.

I have the MH XF 7ft model, it is a great rod and is up there with all the competition in the price range. Also, it is an amazing looking rod. 

Like others have said I own a Powell Max, one of the originals.  I was looking for an all purpose rod and read a Tackletour review on their 683 CEF casting rod. They said it was rated to throw 1/4 to 3/4 ounce baits.  They tested it below the 1/4 and it did not perform real well which was to be expected. What they did not expect is how good it felt throwing baits much heavier than the 3/4.  They even threw a 2.5 ounce swimbait and they said it was not over matched at all.  The rod is my most versatile rod in my entire arsenal consisting of 16 baitcasters.

I have only handled the Infernos but I am impressed by the craftsmanship of the entire line up. The rods are light and well balanced.

 

One thing I found interesting is when Powell changed the Max to Max 3D and brought out the Infernos, they dropped the 683 CEF. I was disappointed, but was not in need of another anyway. I called out to the factory for another member on here. He was located in Toronto. I had a neat conversation with the owner of Powell.  After getting answers for my friend I asked about the 683.  He laughed, apologized and admitted that it was his mistake to drop that model. Then he said his tail end knew it because that was the rod most of his dealers chewed his butt off for dropping!  Next he asked how many I would like since they were sitting on the rack ready for shipping.  It is nice to see a a business listen that much to its dealers and customers.

I have a 703C and 704C of the old Powell Max rods.  Just workhorses.  Do everything I ask of them and then some.  Haven't tried any of the new rod lines yet, but I'm sure they're great as well.

I've tried the 3D's and they are very nice.. I just don't like the minimal reel seat. If they offered them with an ACS seat I'd own a few. Especially the 7'6" power rod and the 6'10" spinner bait rod.

If you decide the Powell is not your best choice, check out the Dobyns Fury line.  Personally I like some of each.

I have 5 infernos & I love them. The 734 is an awesome all around rod & the 705CB are my favorites!

Never touched an Inferno but from what i read theyre pretty solid. I have an older Max 683 and like an above poster said its ridiculously versatile. I usually throw my texas rigs on it.  I got excited when the max 3d was released but realied the put the sk2 reel seat on them which i cant stand

I have 4 Powell Endurance rods, and one 3-D Max.  Great rods, tremendous hook setting power!
