    In the Bay Area today.  If any of you ever come out here, I highly suggest Super Duper Burger.  Double Cheeseburger with bacon and garlic fries.  The best part?  They will cook it medium rare.

This thread has got me craving a 5 Guys double bacon cheese w/ lettuce, tomato & mayo.  Cajun fries on the side and a Liter Cola.

As for hot dogs, home grilled for me,usually ball park.

 

+1 for TMG.  Great burgers.  The beef, also.  I love the bison flavor, but the meat is so lean that the burgers don't hold together as well as I'd like.

I haven't been to Fuddruckers in a few years, but I was just mentioning it to my wife on Monday....she asked what I wanted for birthday dinner...we didn't make it, but maybe tonight.  I always loved their burgers and their 'fries'.

 

I like 5 Guys quite a bit, but got a bit tired of them. Fries used to be good, but seem to be mostly soggy lately.  Red Robin has been at both ends of the spectrum...very good, and pretty lousy.  Growing up in Milwaukee, there used to be a couple restaurants that may still have chain locations, but I haven't seen one in years; Ground Round, which I thought initiated the 'throw your peanut shells on the floor'; and Black Angus.  Both had great burgers, IIRC, but that was over 30 years ago, so maybe they improved in my mind.  First time that I was in CA and saw an In-n-Out, I had to try it, having heard about them for years.  Only went once, but I thought it was pretty bad. 

    Not a chain, but notable for surprisingly good burgers....a cigar bar, of all places, downtown DC; Shelley's Backroom.  Just might be the best burger in the metro DMV.

 

As for dogs, I love them....but only ever order one at a ball game.  Cheap, mass produced grocery dogs (Ball Park, Oscar M, John Morrell, etc.) on my grill....completely blackened...completely...love 'em.

Two and a Fry, Monongahela, PA and Morgantown, WV. They are the bomb.

After ten years of being closed crickets drive in, in Stratford, ct just reopened yesterday. They have the most awesome long dog with the works on the planet. Buttered toasted buns, hot pepper relish, mustard, kraut. I could eat four or five in my younger days when doing cement work. There on access road. Near the Stratford air port.

For some reason at the beginning of the baseball season I crave hot dogs. I'm kinda picky because I don't like all beef dogs, I'd prefer a chicken/pork dog or a chicken/pork/beef dog. Natural casing dogs preferred but will eat skinless. Grilled with a split top bun buttered and toasted on the sides on the top rack of the grill, topped with diced onion, diced pickle or relish and spicy brown mustard.

 

That craving goes away once I get to the beach house in Maine and then my cravings switch to fried clams.

 

Once Labor Day hits, I'm back on the treadmill losing the weight I put on from said cravings...:)

Hotdogs cooked over a hardwood fire. Everything tastes better with a wood fire. Add bacon, frenches mustard, hot pepper relish, Bavarian kraut. Toast and butter the roll.

 

or add chili, kraut and cheese only.

 

any dog tastes great on a wood fire betcha can't eat just one.

 

for burgers it's a grill cheese, carmalized fried sweet onions, bacon.  I call them the bomb. I never got past three as a kid.

 

now ya went and did it I'm hungry, time for big bills back yard BBQ at night. 

Not often but will put down the Sonic foot long -- sinfully good. Costco's dog & drink for 1.50 is very good. Sam's is right there with it. At home, I stick with Ball Park dogs. Fast food hamburger original What a Burger & Krystal's sliders.  Where I live, we have some old Drug Stores & out in the country stores that can put together a delicious old style burger fully dressed however you like it. When in New Orleans, Bud's Broiler is killer.
