Don't you hate it when...

Recommended Posts

Don't you hate it when you put in your online order for tackle and remember the next day or later that day something else you wanted to buy? Now you are paying the shipping fees again or you have to put it in your wish list and wait for the list to build up a little again before you get what you wanted.

Speaking of...

Can anyone tell me which is the most universal treble hook safety cap size? Not sure if I should get small or medium, but, I suspect medium.

I do it constantly, especially when ordering lure building supplies.

You'll need green and purple covers, but green (small), covers a majority of hooks on most jerks, cranks, and topwaters unless you fish a lot of big baits.

This is the reason I started making lists.

I just wait (if I can) until I get enough of things to order to get free shipping.

Well, actually you didn’t forget anything. The BaitMonkey has it’s ways, make yourself the question, do you really “need” treble hook caps ? Not really. So the BM convinces you the need for the item because that’s the excuse for purchasing more s*t until you reach the free shipping minimum charge. 10 dollars for the stuff you need and extra 40 dollars of other stuff just to reach the magical free shipping in 50 dollars or more order.

Well, to hold me over, I bought some cheap ones on amazon. Prime shipping that won't cost me anything and it will let me determine if I like them enough to buy the better quality. I'm currently working from a backpack style tackle storage. So far, I've managed to make it hold all of my stuff except my live bait tackle. I think I'm far too rapidly reaching the point of outgrowing it. The hook covers might be a killing blow for it, depending on how badly they limit me putting multiple lures in a single compartment...which ironically, would eliminate the need for the covers.

It might push me to having a larger tackle bag/box and taking only a limited selection in the backpack to the pond. I'm not good at deciding what to leave behind, lol.

I keep a running wish list at every site I can and use that to reference when I am trying to get an order up to free shipping.  The last two years I have used the various BF sales to stock up on un-sexy stuff like hook covers, line, weights, and other non-lure consumables.  It isn't the most exciting package to open, but it is nice to lay in a supply of that kind of stuff.

Despite having Academy, Dicks, Cabela's and Bass Pro, there are some things they don't stock, or, charge too much for. The only one I didn't check for the hook covers was Bass Pro. Rods, I can frequently find stuff on Tackle Warehouse they just don't have local like Dobyn's Fury. Here's another example of something they just don't stock:
