When would you use a Rage Tail Craw vs a Rage Bug?  

 

I usually have both rigged up after a tournament I fished last year. Knew the fish were holding on the outside of the grass lines so went to town pitching a rage craw and couldn't land a keeper, so I thought I'd bulk up my presentation and change the action and switch to the magnum rage bug. And I'm glad I did. We ended up winning the tourney, and had one of our best days on the water as far as big fish go. I think the bug imitates a bluegill and crawfish more than the craw only imitating crawfish. Not a whole lot of people throw the big around me, let alone the magnum bug, so I usually reach for it first if a place has already been fished or it has had some pressure on it.

Most often, I'll use the craw as either a jig trailer, or alone on a T-Rig with a glass bead or brass clacker. I'll use the Rage Bug when fishing heavy vegetation, either punching or as a trailer on a swim jig. It's also an awesome bait for skipping under docks.

I haven't had much luck with the bug, but I love the craw.

Pretty much the same but never skipped one.

Craw as a jig trailer and the Bug T-rigged is what I tend to do.

It isn't my go to for skipping, but if i don't have a tube rigged up, or I'm just too lazy to set down the jig rod, they do a pretty good job of getting back under a dock.

Good enough for me!

There are no docks on Okeechobee but somethings newly made boat trails through the grass are very productive with the right presentation.

I use the bug almost exclusively as my jig trailer.

 

I pinch about 3/8” off the top to make it a little shorter.

 

Depending on the conditions I sometimes leave the pinchers attached together, pull off the side appendages or fish it as is out of the package. I love it paired with an Andy Montgomery skipping jig for getting way up under docks.

I use a bug a LOT, but almost always Rage-rigged, or as a chatterbait trailer.  I use craws as my primary jig trailer.

I fish the rage craw a lot. I'll use it as a jig trailer, swim jig trailer and texas rigged. I catch a lot of fish with it.

 

For some reason I don't do nearly as well with the Rage bug. I'll fish the bug as a jig trailer and texas rigged mainly. Oddly enough I do quite well with the Missle Baits D Bomb, fishing it in the same manner as the Rage bug. 

Early & late season - It's The Bug.

Everything else ~ It's the Craw (and the Lobster for the big bite).

Both Great! I think it may have something to do with the profile. I’ll be honest though I think either one would work anytime. 
 

 

Craw, Baby and Lobster for a jig trailer. My most productive presentation for the Structure Bug is as a trailer

for the Rage Blade (Chatterbait).

 

I’ll occasionally use the baby rage craw as a jig trailer ,but I always have t-rigged bug ready to pitch into cover. 

Haven’t used the bug as much. Have a hard time switching from the craw it does so well.
