Lure speed

What weight do you use on your creature/worm for a good fall rate besides punching and flipping grass?

1/4, 3/8, 3/4.

3/8 majority of the time

I been going alot lighter than that,I was reading an article on BR Larry Nixon basically said in one of the tournaments he was fishing he went alot heavier and the speedier fall rate was the difference maker for him winning the tournament.

I change plastics quite often when trying to figure out what, where and how they want it.

With the different fall rates of each I usually start with a 3/16 and go from there.

Depending on wind 1/8, 3/16, & 1/4 oz ?

I was always afraid to go to heavy that it would spook them and figured lighter would get better look at it seeing the appendages flapping etc

As much weight as you can get away with. Sometimes its a guessing game as to how bass react to the ROF.

Sorry the answer is vague, but is there a right or wrong answer here? :)

It really depends on what I'm trying to do and what fall rate I'm looking for. This starts with the bait itself, which is why I stick to the few ones I'm really familiar with, then the line will have a significant effect on the fall rate, and finally the conditions, particularly current and wind will influence the decision. I don't really know how much some of my worm sinkers actually weigh, I go to a smaller one or a larger one as required, and use that one. What it actually weighs (or is labeled) I don't worry about.

For worms 6"-7 1/2" my go weight is 3/16 oz.

8"-12" is 3/8 oz.

4"- 5 1/2" is 1/8 oz

Nail weight is 3/32 oz.

Drop shot is 1/4 oz.

Slip shot is 1/8 oz.

I fish Texas rigged with bullet weight and nail weight worms from 6" deep to 30'

Drop shot and slip shot 3' to 45'

Those are my starting weights and adjust from there.

1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 are my main sizes with the 1/4 getting used the most if I'm not flipping much cover.
