Best 100$ Baitcaster

Featured Replies

I’m looking for a good all around 80-110$ Baitcasting reel I will be putting this reel on a 7 ft 1 inch bass x st. Croix MH rod any suggestions

I have several of the Lews LFS reels the are 99 bucks at the stores you can sometimes find them cheaper on Ebay.

Granted this is just my opinion, but I think Lews has this price range pretty nailed down. I haven't bought a reel in a few years but I have two Lews from around that price range and they definitely punch above their price category imo. The Speed Spool LFS is probably their best seller and it can be found pretty much everywhere for $99.99. I have also heard great things about the Shimano Casitas ($99.99 on TW).

I’m buying from Cabela’s in store the feugo is on sale etheir that the casitas or the LFS

The Shimano Casitas outperformed most other $99 dollar reels in the 99 dollar reel shootout done by TheReelTest on YouTube when it came down to casting distance.

The Daiwa Fuego CT is HUGE bang for your buck, casts a few feet shorter or longer depending on the bait in those tests if I'm not mistaken, and can be had for around 70 bucks.  Oh, and the Magforce Z brakes are foolproof.

Oh, and Fuego translates to fire.

It's also interesting to note that the drag was also tested at a full pound heavier than advertised.

Fuego CT or Tatula CT. They're the best in that price range and I don't think anything else is really that close.

It's only valid with certain sellers, but the Fuego is available. The one I used it's  $69.95 with a free reel pouch, but the code knocks off 15%. Seller is triacetackle2016.

Fuego CT. Then you'll have money left over for line and bait.

It's been a while since we've had a thread like this

 :hammerblows:

Any opinions on which of the reels in the $99.99 class is best for casting 1/4 to 3/8 ounce lures consistently?  While I wouldn't remotely consider myself a long bomber of a caster, I do feel like I have range well beyond my accuracy.  Consequentially, casting distance is a consideration, but it is secondary to me by comparison to not back lashing with lighter lures.

^^^This. I bought both of my Lew's for $80 on sale at Cabela's and I can vouch for the quality and tightness of the LFS reels. They are so good I'm thinking about buying a third.

Lews Tournament MB on the big auction site for around $106.

Keep an eye open.  I have seen them for a few pennies under $56....without a promotion code.

For someone who has the baitcaster thumb in the bag, casitas. For someone looking to get the most out of a baitcaster or someone who isn't a pro-thumb, fuego all day.

You can get a Tatula CT on eBay for around $100. I got a Pfluefer Supreme XT on ebay for $110 which I'm not sure you will find again but if you can, I'd be all over that. I had a 20% off coupon code around xmas to get it that cheaply, but I would say it's similar to a Curado and will put the Tatula CT or Casitas to shame. It's a lesser known reel, but a very nice one and having a six pin centrifugal brake setup, it's good for both pros and beginners.

If you don't trust ebay or whatever, then maybe the Fuego. Lews also has some good offerings at that price point.

I can vouch for that seller. My Fuego CT just came in. The free pouch is too small for the reel. Probably meant for a Lews!

On topic, if you have smaller hands or prefer smaller profile, get Lews. Otherwise, Fuego CT all the way.
