Push Poles - Frugal Options

Featured Replies

Anyone have frugal options to a decent push pole? I'm going to use it with a 14' Bomber Scout in the back of the pads.

I was thinking of using this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Wooster-6-ft-12-ft-Sherlock-Extension-Pole-00R0560000/100132422

But I'm not sure if it can support the weight of the 14' boat, passengers (2) and gear. It has a screw tip, and wonder what options there are that I can buy to put on similar to a duck foot.

Othewise, I may just shell out $200 for the SuperStick on Amazon.

I've never used that particular one, but high-quality paint extension poles are pretty rugged. It's definitely worth checking out in person if you can find one at a nearby store.

The weak link on the pole you posted is all the pushing pressure will be on "pin" lock held in place by plastic. Don't think that will be durable.I use the Purdy Adjustable Power Lock 8'-16' one for my 18'6" RiverPro. Instead of a duck foot I just took a bristle brush that will screw on the tip and cut the bristles off, so I'm left will about a 3x6 block of wood. I'm not poling out of thick deep mud though. Usually sandy/rocky bottoms. And I usually don't have to extend it so I get the sturdiness of both poles.

The cow? ?

I have the 6-12' with the foot from TW. about 65.00, or get the KVD model for over 200.00.

Thanks, the DotLine from TW looks pretty reasonable. Are you pushing the glass boat in your profile picture?  Any issues with the DotLine?

not glass. Crestliner PT18. I don't use it much. mostly when I get caught on a wing dam on the Miss. the pole is built strong. would be more than enough for any boat.

Is that a screw together 2 piece, or button locking?

Button lock!

It's actually 3 piece, the duck bill comes off.
