I think you made a cut and paste error.  The “over 10 lbs” section is missing!

?

A new vocabulary is required for these lakes.  A-Jay's definition of the word, skunk, for Mexican lakes is no 10 lb'ers.

At this point, I just assume you book and pay for the next trip every time you’re down there.

Pretty Much ~

There's been a recent influx of 'Swimbait guys' who are killing it each fall, you know they are coming back.

We've fallen into a little groove on when we like to be there & the water levels at that time help promote where & how we like to fish.   Booking (and paying) early helps lock us into all of that.

Seems this next trip will include a few more humans.

Good chance we'll be looking to book the larger King Air for the flight right into the lodge.

Should be plenty of room . . . . . . . . . . .

Any idea how Fletcher Shryock, Brent Ehler, and company did on their trip?

Everyone caught bass -

No better or worse than most anyone going there with at least average bass fishing skills.

Each angler posted Pics of their catches on their FB & Instagram pages.

Some were re-posted on the Lake Baccarac Lodge FB page.

Boom.

And that was when his idea of good bass fishing changed forever.

Looking forward to seeing (meeting) you.

Congrats

I applaud your optimism, enthusiasm for and more importantly your great catches over the years at that place.

Is it snowing again? ?

I've just got the details of a March trip to Holland and a May trip to Spain sorted out, so life's definitely better with something in the diary. Possibility of an August Canada trip too, but time will tell. You're a long time dead.

No snow today but Plenty over the weekend though.

Look at you booking the trips !

Adding to those passport stamps in order to get your string pulled is always a good time.

Hope it all goes according to plan for you my friend.

We were doing two a year there for a while but once I got the new rig

had to pump the brakes a little.

Either way - I do like having the trip & the flights planned, booked & paid for.

Then it's only a matter of day dreaming & sleepless nights.

I can drive to Holland in about 6 hours and use the channel tunnel to get across the sea, so it's not quite as exotic as it sounds. That's a long shot special for a big perch or zander. The last five or six years we've done it we've been foiled by the weather. Spring is potentially a windy time anyway, and Holland has no wind breaks so if it's above 10mph it's awkward, above 15 it's pretty much impossible. We always time it perfectly for the windiest times. Last year we spent 3 of 4 days sat in the cabin looking out of the window trying to convince ourselves the wind was dropping.

Spain is a great trip. It's a lovely place up in the mountains and is a rare chance to fish for bass. It's like a Californian desert lake. The levels drop 40 ft or so during the summer with hydro electric generation, it's steep sided rock, no grass, and I find it difficult to work out what to do a lot of the time, but we usually get a few in the end. There are zander, pike and an unusual sort of barbel which is very predatory in the lake as well, so there is often an added bit of excitement. Good times with good friends.

Canada is very special. My friend Tim lives in VA and has a cabin on the lake. He very generously invites me over when we can get our diaries to coincide. Love that place, Newboro Lake in Ontario. Last year we finished a fabulous week with a 20lb bag of smallmouth, which has been a long held ambition. Icing on a very very good cake!

What I wouldn’t give to be in Mexico right now chasing giant bass! I just don’t have the patience for winter this year.

Now I know why bears hibernate!

You and me both ~

As foul and the hard water season weather can be,

just makes me appreciate what we get when it's over.

Also might explain why there's such a rush of weekenders into the area from down state each summer.

I don't mind earning it.

I appreciate the warm months and the humidity while awful at times is becoming more tolerable (holy crap I’m turning into my dad). The winters....I have my mood swings.

If you just let me have my tantrum I’ll be better, they never last long. ?
