Lake Baccarac Lodge In Mexico

Featured Replies

I'm all packed up and starting to get a little nervous and excited all at the same time LOL .

Got to make one last walk thru Bass Pro LOL... guess I'm going to be looking at some swim baits ? Any suggestions?

Be my first trip to Mexico boys and girls.  I'm packing lite and going to try and cover all the zones.. I really one to see a huge monster blow up on a buzz bait or frog.... I cant even image setting the hook on a double digit bass .. My PB is 8 caught at Sardis Lake in MS.  The goal is to top that ..

Sorry I didn't see this earlier ~

The following is from the comment section of a video from a recent successful trip.

I plan to start with many of the same stuff this trip ~

"Before we get to what we caught, here’s what we used, tackle & baits. We both fish heavy action travel casting rods (Fenwick & G.Loomis), Shimano & Quantum 200 & 300 size casting reels, and 20-25 lb Seaguar InvizX & Tatsu Fluorocarbon line. Big Gear is a MUST here. Early morning & near sunset, fish can be shallow in the bushes. We used 7 inch stickbaits & mag flukes weightless on a 7/0 EWG hook. Caught several score-able bass this way. Later in the mornings, mid-day and through much of the afternoons we fished deeper on mid-lake humps, off long points, steeper drop offs and deep flats in 10 – 30 feet. We took fish on 6 & 7 inch Swimbaits, ½ & ¾ oz underspins with 5-6 inch hollow belly & solid swimbait trailers, ¾ oz shakey & football heads with 10 inch worms, 7 inch stickbaits and mag fluke trailers. During the afternoon of the first full day of fishing, we started finding the bigger fish suspended in 10-20 feet over 40-60 feet of water over main lake humps and in front of major points. The underspins and the swimbaits were getting choked – the likes of which I have not ever experienced. This bite lasted pretty much the rest of the trip and these suspended fish accounted for at least 75 % of the score-able bass we caught. It got completely nuts. "

This is the link to that video ~

3 long days and a wake up left.

I thought scrounger jig heads were the ticket on your first trip.  Are you still using them?

They are a killer presentation there.

And we always have an assortment at the ready, including this trip.

However recent trips have seem many of the big girls suspended over deep water.

Scroungers work best for us closer to the bottom.

We did have an afternoon scrounger /fluke bite session last trip

where we were on the biggest school of 4-6lb bass

I'd ever seen in about 15 ft.

Every cast for a couple of hours - even had the guide in on it.

We ending up taking turns casting so we would keep having three tanks in the net at the same time.

Only bummer was I lost the gopro footage when one of my cameras

fried up in the 100 degree sun the next day.

I change SD cards daily now.

Well, you guys are spoiled, but for the rest of us peasants, that wouldn't suck.

With just 2 days and a wake remaining before I depart for what IMO is the best Giant Green Bass water on the planet, sound sleep has been tough to come by.

Not Complaining.

Got a last minute TW order in route.

You know what it's like.

Rocked the Express mail option, schedule to arrive tomorrow

but it still seems like it's a race against the clock if it makes it or not.

This whole deal is always 'an event' and this time around most all of it is up just a notch.

Doesn't really need to be.

Down to the Final Day and wake up.  Always Drags by.

Already checked into my flight out of Michigan in the morning.

Hope the "On Time" status continues.  Speaking of on time, TW came through with next day shipping so The Jackhammer will be making an appearance on Lake Baccarac this trip.

I think the rest of the guys here are just as excited as you and Jeff.

Good luck!

Bet you don't sleep worth a d**n tonight. ??

I can't sleep properly if I'm just going for a normal fishing trip the next day, going away for a special trip leaves me sleepless for a week beforehand! Have a great time.

Landed in Dallas.

My bags made it as well.

Just waiting for Big Fish Jeff to get in from Memphis in a couple of hours.

I foresee some adult beverages in my immediate future.
