What happened to the company Pinnacle? I can't find any information? No website, no anything...

Yes, but what about a personal website for their company alone?

I think they're no more. I've tried looking for them also. You can still purchase some of their stuff but it appears to be what's left not exactly what you want. Which sucks because some of their cheaper reels were great for the price

I gave away years back a Pinnacle Rod that was a great smallmouth rod, at least for me it caught a lot of river smallies. A guy I know, aquaintence, what ever you want to call it was sort of down on his luck and wanted to turn to some fishing while getting his **** together. They put out a decent product. I don’t miss the rod. He loved it. May have been a Sports Authority special if I remember correctly. 

I used to (might still) have a Pinnacle Deadbolt that was given to me by my dad. For a cheap reel, that thing  had a butter smooth drag and casted baits a country mile.

 

I've heard that their higher end reels were garbage towards the end.

Yeah I’m pretty sure they’re done. I wish it weren’t true since I have three of their higher end reels. All of which I love and now have zero support if anything happens. 

I was on Fisherman's Central website last night and was wondering where Pinnacle went. I just thought they quit carrying them until I jumped to see TW didn't have them either. Its a shame really.

They pretty much backed out of the American bass market.  Silstar is still around, though.  I have a bunch of their rods and reels, mostly high end stuff, that is still in my usual rotation.  It's held up well.

Must be they reached their Pinnacle.....

Look, a quick peak at the lay of the land will show that Shimano is the apex predator, which makes it tough for others to crest the market. Much like Sony did to Zenith, it's difficult to summit the strength to climb the market, and most find it an uphill battle...

Exactly which is why I used "their" instead of the. To be honest I never knew they made high quality reels at one time. I always thought they just made low end cheap reels. I used to be big into golf and always associated them with golf.

Different company.

I seem to recall they had an association with Pflueger about a decade ago. One of the Pfleuger reps, Mark Davis (not the BASS pro, but the guy with the saltwater show), was traveling around giving Pinnacle combos away at shows and tourneys. A guy I know who fished tourneys got a couple for free as door prize or something and gave them to people at work. I think he told me at the time they were essentially Pflueger. So they must have been phased out or absorbed.

Silstar/Pinnacle did a lot of OEM private label reels.  The old Gander Mtn. line were Pinnacle, too.

And BPS, and Cabelas, and DSG, and Browning, and a bunch of others. Flip em over and look for the made in Korea on the reel foot. If it has a made in China sticker instead, it's a later version. I have plastic DSG sideplates that fit on the all metal Pinnacles for winter use. They made a Crown Royal® limited version, which is ironic cause I use the pouches as reel bags when I travel. Next, we'll cover the differences between Bourbon and Canadian whiskey...

Whole weekends anyway...

Had a Pinnacle spinning reel that turned really smooth BUT the line twist it created was the stuff of nightmares.  I never figured out why.  Anyway, I couldn't get rid of it soon enough.

Roller bearing stuck?  Anyway, still using my Performa spinner after several years, with no maintenance other than a drop of oil on the roller bearing every couple months.

Checked the roller bearing.  Oiled it.  Took it apart to see if sand or a metal shave was impeding it from turning freely.  Ran a rubber band on it back and forth for a LONG time. Tried EVERYTHING I could think of.  It seemed to turn fine but nothing seemed to help.

Green Label was my Scotch until they took it way. The new one isn't the same, and BL is too rich for my blood.
