I have a Cardiff and a bps musky rod on the way and I don’t know what kind of line to put on it. I’ll be using it for big swimbaits.

P-line CXX 25 to 30 lb for all subsurface baits and 65 lb Power Pro for topwater 

20lb -30lb mono dependent upon bait size.  I don't use braid do to when it does backlash it usually results in a lost bait. 

No matter what line you use just don't go trying to lob the bait out there because it will sometimes result in a lost bait.

What would you recommend to keep in mind when casting big swimbaits?

Line diameter varies between brands. In cxx 20lb is more like 25lb when compared to Berkeley big game.  

How "big" are we talking?(G2 shellcracker?...SWaver 200?...8" Hudd?...Deps 250?). I don't think you can go wrong with CXX like others said for most baits, 20lb is basically rope, just a little wirey especially in cold weather. But if you do mean BIIIIG then you might want to upsize to 25lb or go with something like 30lb Berkley Big Game.

Dont over think it, i use braid but its not needed

I have been using Sunline Defier Armillo Nyon 25# line for all my swimbaits between 2 to 7 oz. for 3 years, good casting line and knot strength. 165 spool of 25 lb Armillo fills a 300 size Cardiff.
