Some Days!

Some days are diamonds, some days are stones, some days ya better off not leaving home!

Was bank fishing with a buddy of mine this morning. Caught two tighteyes, miss several, broke off 5 times losing tungsten weights & hooks. By 10:30 the heat index was 105!

And broke my last Crucial ?

We all have bad days. Once in a while I get lucky enough to have a good day. Hope it gets better for you next time you go.

Still better than work though, wasn't it?

Oh, and I always liked: Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug.

Catt, my grandpa used to sing that old song! Sorry to hear about your Crucial. When my Shimano rod finally breaks, I'm gonna be lost without it

That was the fishing gods telling you to STAY IN THE BOAT....  After fishing in a boat for most of my life bank fishing is always a unique challenge.

Hang in there Catt. You might win another truck on the next trip ?

Since misery loves company, I feel a little better knowing I am not the only one with those types of day.

Sorry about the rod......that I have not experienced ?

Quit using it!

The only good thing about the Crucial is I recently bought a Daiwa Tatula 7' 1" medium heavy extra fast which feels very similar to the Crucial.

Guess I'll be ordering another one ?

Ooo. @Catt! Sorry about the Crucial.

I've got a cork (early OOs) Compre with the finger cutout in the cork.

Actually have two, but "gave" the other to one of my sons so he had

a rod to fish with at college.

I dread the day they break since they're not made anymore. :(

Around here I have heard people use the term tight eyes when referring to a snake.

Tighteyes is what we call dinks because their eyes are so close together.

Three trips now & I've broken off a dozen times. That's highly unusual for this Cajun...kinda getting irritated.

That having buy tungsten weights, hooks, line...oh! Yeah I also backlashed twice to the point of get the knife out!

Strange...still using same line...bad spool?

I did get a bad bulk spool one time, had deformities all the way up as far as I pulled off.

Nah! It's mostly operator error!

I had to buy a new spool ?

I'm fishing stumps & laydowns which I usually have little issues negotiating with a Texas Rig. It's 15# Berkley Big Game with either a 1/8 oz or 3/16 oz bullet weight. Now 4 or 5 times the bass simply wrapped me up shortly after hookset.

Don't tell me it's stretchy monofilament because twice was with braid.

It just proves it happens to everybody, so when y'all wanna talk about the "do's and don'ts of bank fishing, don't follow Catt!

Keep breaking rods and you loose your old timers club membership.

Can't see you with a silver rod with soft handle or are you using the Tatula X series?

It could be bad karma putting your vintage Shimano reels on Diawa rods....

Tomorrow is a new day.

No not another crucial, I still miss mine ????

Is that old tatula or newer cork one? I like the old tatula 7’1 MH/XF and use that rod for most everything now (got 3 myself)

Oops don’t see above post, if you still can get the old Tatula, very good for it price range, light and comfortable.

I fish from both the boat and the bank often.  One thing I've learned is when fishing from the bank don't use a heavy weight with lures.  Between the ledges, and the thick bank veggies you will get hung up on rocks, stems, and wood.  A light weight will free itself by just a little slack and then some little jerks.  The lure will ride over wood and rocks without getting caught.  This will not happen with heavier tungsten bullet weights.  I have learned this after losing countless terminal rigs especially with limestone ledges, and walls.
