At my local pond I see bass popping their heads out of the water and then ducking back in. Why are they doing this?

I considered that. Lol. I thought for a brief moment they wanted to see what lure I was using lmao.  But I happened to catch one that was doing it so if so hes got a real short memory.

Probably is a carp. They do that consistently.

Sounds like carp or possibly turtles?  

 

Unless they are coming up to gulp air?  Are the fish relatively healthy?  When the dissolved oxygen gets extremely low some fish will come up and gulp at the surface...but if this were the case you would notice some dead fish and it would smell bad

Very healthy fish yea. 

Il try to snap a photo of it today. 

I dont know. I've never seen a bass do that. I've seen bullheads and carp do it though.

So update to my inexperience.  It was turtles lmao.

They unfortunately wouldnt help. I was wearing prescription glasses. Still needed a buddy to tell me it was a turtle hahaha.

I've seen muskie come to the surface and swim with their heads out of the water, d**n things look like 

alligators when they do it.

 

But I don't why.....
