Pflueger Supreme XT 30

Featured Replies

I hope you and your loved ones are having a nice Christmas ??

This morning, I made an impulsive purchase on a Pflueger Supreme XT 30. It was 20% off and I liked the specs, especially how light it is although there were some reviews that criticized the reel’s durability. It is also my first time buying  a reel online that I've never handled before.

can any owners of the reel or people who are familiar with the reel let me know if I made a good decision. Pros, cons, anything I should know about?

once again, have a merry and safe Christmas. All the best and thank you!

My opinion? Those that complain loudest got one of the occasional lemons. I've a Pflueger Trion-30 and a President-25 and both, after a season or two, seem to be well made, smooth and durable. I'll buy Pfluegers again...umm...just ordered another in a 35 size actually.

I've been using a  President 25 for 3 years with no complaints.

Three of my eight Pflueger spinning reels are Supreme XT’s.  They’re smooth, quiet, and just plain ole work.  I’ve never had an issue with any of them.

I find the Supreme XT the perfect balance between the President & Patriarch lines.

I have one mounted on a Zodias rod. It's very smooth and no complaints.

I have one on my wacky rig rod. It's very nice but be careful with that handle, it's pretty fragile and if you break it they're about $40 to replace, not that I did it and found out the hard way ?

Dang, that's what I was worried about. Im pretty rough on my gear but I've made a serious effort to be more caring with it. Im on the shore 75% of the time so I gotta be extra careful. Is it fragile enough that i should be worried about it breaking during the car ride while it bounces around in the trunk?

No, it just doesn't flex at all since it's carbon fiber, it snaps. It's not like glass or anything, but mine broke in my rod locker, I think the reel was near the top with the handle pointed up and the lid fell on it, so a pretty good blow. Don't toss it around or anything though.

They are great reels, and it is true the handles can break if hard contact is made. I used mine with braided line exclusively.

I have 3 Pflueger Supreme XT's. Never had a problem. They are a fine reel, highly recommend them.

I use to have a gold xt30, the model they made like 5 years ago. Great reel, unfortunately knocked it in Geist Reservoir this spring. I think mine had an aluminum handle.
