Solunar tables

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

Best app for Bass fishing feeding times and tables. What apps do you guys use?

Whatever app you use for your horoscope.  It's just as useful.

Ohhhhhhh...yes I did!

I don't pay attention...mainly because I can't schedule my trips around the bloody table - I go when I can. If the table says it's a crappy day...oh well, it's the day I can get out so :P

Yes!  Exactly right!  I can imagine that someday I will be completely retired and I will be able to fish so often I can try following the calendars.  Right now it's "free time=go no matter what".

I AM retired - but personal life causes me to have a restricted schedule for fishing...which is why I have a canoe rig instead of a full boat. Can't see paying $100 a month (or more) on a loan when I can only get out maybe once a week for 4-5 hours each trip for 5 months of the year.

I've been retired almost 4 years. I go fishing 6 days a week, weather and circumstances permitting. I don't pay attention to Solunar tables, and I don't have an app, other than the one in my head that says, "Either they're bitin' or they ain't bitin'. Go fishing and find out which."

Seems to work OK for me.   ?   jj

I'm Also retired but only fish 3-4 days a week.

Never once have I paid attention to anything other than the road to and from the lake.

It could be forecasted that not a single fish will be caught and I'd be seen.....fishing.

I look at the one they have on In-Fisherman once in a great while, but I don't schedule my fishing by that.

I use solunarforecast.com

While I don’t live by it, I keep track of my catches and compare the ‘forecast’ from time to time.

I find my better days fishing often coincide with the moon phases.

You come live my life and see how often you can get out. I have responsibilities that take precedence and finances that are constrained.

I think what he's saying is that whatever time you've got to get out and throw something in the water, that's the right time to go.

That's what I'm taking from it, anyway.

This is exactly what I meant by it.  Sorry if I upset someone!  Geesh

Except that I have to pre-plan my trips a week in advance. I can't just decide "Oh, nice day, think I'll go fishing."

The only table I use for fishing is the kitchen table.  I use it to help rig the night before and to put the occasional redfish, seatrout, or flounder on.

one day a week strictly for fishing!

Every year I say I'm going to keep track of the tables to see if there's any correlation with my success on a given day.

Then every year I don't keep track..lol

You can go through life without slowing down to enjoy what is in front you.

Solunar tables are simply based on lunar gravitation forces by time zones.

My Cosmic clock was based on lunar phase and sunlight plus seasonal periods. What gets over looked and that I tried to explain is what is in front you, natures daily and hourly activity. It's there to observe if you take the time to look. Bass are fish but they are also animals subject to the same resting and activity periods as everything else.

No chart can be absolutely accurate because too many variable are involved, weather being the most unpredictable major influence. Lakes 20 miles part are often on a different activity time table, some shorter periods and other longer periods of activity.

Major League fishing brings this out nearly every event with active periods where the majority of bass are being caught and inactive periods when few bass are being caught.

The most famous pro bass angler for being in tune with his surroundings is Rick Clunn the Zen Master.

LOL I will be using the same one as well !

This has always been something I wondered about as well.  Recently, I had some buddies hammering big crappies through the ice and gave me a call.   I hopped in the truck, picked up another friend, and headed to the lake.  When We got there we marked a dozen fish in the holes, but very few biters.  We caught some fish, but nothing like the guys were earlier.  On a whim, I came home and checked the major and minor times, sure enough, they hit the major and were going wild.   Major was over...........so was the bite.   I am sure it is not always that specific, but it did open my eyes a little.   I will be keeping track a little more............at least I say I will?

There is always the chance that the fact that a hot bite lining up with whatever solunar table you use, was just a coincidence. Just like when guys see bass spawning during a full moon and come to the conclusion that the two are connected. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
