Jig Skipping Rods

Guys, what are your favorite jig skipping rods?

Interested in adding to my rod collection.

Thanks.

Obviously for skipping a shorter rod will typically make it easier on you. Depending on what size jigs you'll be throwing for power.

I throw a lot 5/16-3/8oz jigs, an typically that's skipping under docks,  over hanging trees, and in tree lay downs.

I thoroughly enjoy using my dobyns champion extreme 704c. Fast tip, heavy back bone, very sensitive.

Sam  I bought the new released Dobyns Champion XP DC 610 4C that is designed for skipping. I don't know if you read it but I talk about my day on the water with it. I really like the rod But was not very proficient skipping to start with & was using a 6'6" rod this one is a 6'10" so if you read or have read it you will understand my problem that day. This rod is a shorter version of the  Dobyns Champion XP 704c. That has a  Fast tip, heavy back bone, very sensitive, which I own 2 of. The 610 has a tad more power than a Dobyns 4 power blank, maybe a 1/2 power more. I feel this rod will be a very good skipping rod for me once I get use to it.  Here is the heading I posted under.

Dobyns Champion XP DC610 4C

For jigs under 1/2 oz, I use a 7'0 MH St Croix Legend Xtreme.  1/2 oz and over, I'm using a 7'0 H Kistler Helium 3.

ALX Zolo Skipper is the best I have tried. The 7 foot rods around dock cables aren’t very forgiving when you are in tight spaces.

I use a 6'10" MH Tatula rod and Tatula SV TW reel.

Was thinking of skipping a half ounce jig under docks.

Do you think the dobyns Champion XP DC 610 4C is the way to go?

I have a Kistler that I use for frog fishing.

It is one big powerful rod.

Thanks for the input. I will check it out.

As I said I was having trouble Skipping With the rod due to the length. I was use to a 6'6" length & due to a massive heart tack I have not been on the water in a good while.  I had time to practice the other day & got better at it. Gary informed me that this rod was a year in the making & had much feed back from the people testing the prototype. I fully intend to use for skipping so I think it is the way to go. Go on the Dobyns Site & call or send a e-mail & tell them you have questions about the Champion XP DC 610 4C. They are very helpful.
