Looks like a lot of reel for the $. Built like a tank from the description. 

   Only by way of hearsay. Two people cussed it in the 3xx  and 4xx sizes because it had synchronized levelwind. I think they were all hung up on their own predilections, though. I don't see that as a negative in a big reel. I haven't seen the 2xx size, and I have heard conflicting comments as to whether it's levelwind is synchronized or not.

   All comments, whether positive or negative, invariably included the word "tank", as in Sherman tank.     jj

The smallest one looks like a contender as a flipping or frog reel. The others maybe a swim bait reel. The big ones are aimed at saltwater users I’d think. 

I saw this reel at an Okuma booth at the Indy Boat, Sport and Travel Show.  It is one sweet reel but I only saw the small size.  It seemed similar to both the Shimano Tranx and Daiwa Lexa, maybe the model I saw was a fuzz smaller though.   It felt solid, sort of heavy duty and also, simple yet smooth.  Looked like a nice swimbait reel for the money.

I need one of the bigger ones for a swimbait reel.

Need to feel one up. But it's gonna have to be something special because my Tranx 400 and tuned Revo Toro Beast are nice.

I was scared to look after the last thread - I thought this might be purple with pink polka dots.

These would be fantastic reels for musky fishermen.  Some of the really hardcore musky guys I do work for will often go through a set of brass gears once every season or so from burning bucktails.  Some of those reels I have upgraded because there are stainless gears available for them.  Stainless does tend to sound a little geary due to it being a harder material than brass.  If anybody happens to get one of these Okumas and can hear the gears, you shouldn't have to worry as that's the norm for that type of gearbox.

   I was nosing around the Okuma website, and I found out that they still have this sale going on from before Christmas. Someone might (or might not) be interested.

Those are the "big ones" right? If so that's a smoking deal on a low-profile swimbait reel. Or musky reel if they are in your area.

I was thinking this too. A friend of mine was once looking for a low-profile musky reel and asked for my advice. All the research I did highly recommended the Okuma Komodos. I'm assuming this one is a newer 2020 model? Between this reel and the lower priced Citrix, Okuma has got a few good options for larger reels.

As somebody who’s in the market for a Tranx they certainly seem like a viable option at a great price. I would like to handle one- steel on steel isnt all that common for low pro baitcasters; I definitely don't like aluminum main gears over brass, which are also harder. I do LOVE that they give you an unobtrusive clicker option (which abu abandoned after their initial “big” low profile reels). It basically gives you two reels when we striper fish w/lures then bait.

Synchronized levelwind. The best feature no one includes in reels anymore.

   I agree ..... in BIG reels. In small reels, it's unnecessary, increases wear and cuts distance. But in big reels, it's like a slice of heaven.    jj

The stainless steel gearing is intriguing.

I don’t know. It increases start up inertia a bit, but, at least for me, is the single best thing that prevents overruns.
